I used to do the debate thing, and still occasionally do (it's a sign of boredom on my part), but mostly I ignore that crap.

I don't know.  With some of the idiots I've encountered I suspect taking them by the back of the head and smashing their faces repeatedly into a desk would be rather therapeutic.

I'm not interested in debate either now.

It's not laziness but it's disinterest right now. I just want to agree to disagree on everything without say "agree to disagree".

I only debate theists when I think it could be of benefit to "lurkers" to see me dismantle an argument or correct misinformation; or if I think someone genuinely wants to have an honest debate with me. (The latter is incredibly rare.)

When we get a new theist, I tend to bypass everything and ask them why I should care in the slightest. I generally get either no answer, "obey or burn", or some appeal to scientific curiosity (even though they've carefully defined everything to be outside the scope of science).

I have a cousin who loves to go into people's fb posts and argue. I'm way past my debating stage. Two or three years ago, bring it. I loved it. Now I just don't see the fun in it. I'm just going to get annoyed by the same ol' arguments, same questions, same "personal experiences".

So, here I am on a debate forum telling you I'm too lazy to debate.

Are you still debating theists? How do you find the drive to continue to answer to the same things over and over again?

I don't see the point anymore either.

Debating in "real life" is much better though because the other person is usually almost always willing to at least hear you out. Often times debates on forums just descend into two people berating other, but not really talking to each other.

I agree. I'll give some forum members my attention until it starts leading into the usual internet bullshittery. That's when I just start sending them meme responses instead. Most face-to-face debates tend to be more civil and sensible, so I can actually have a real conversation. Well, that is unless someone just wants to talk over you. That's when I just walk away.

My biggest flaw is getting WAYYYY too into debates. Doesn't matter what they are about I will get heated. I don't usually curse or call names my style is pretty strict in being civil but I get ruthless. I was so proud of myself yesterday that I managed to walk away from a debate over Trump but then someone I've known for 15 plus years and used to be friends with has a habit of waiting till I post of any of our 35 mutual friends' posts or comments and starting shit. I blocked her and was soooo happy with myself... but then I knew she replied and I HAD to check it. So I unblocked her and now I can't reblock for 48 hours. I was doing so well too...
