If you want to live in as perfect a world as possible you have to let go of the past. You have to change. You have to evolve.
If you want your government to complete the task, you have to give it unlimited powers. No one would stand in its path. No group or individual. That is the path to a perfect world, or as perfect a one as you could get. That could also be the path to a dystopian world, but only if that government would fail in its endeavours.
That is just a pipe dream, however. We will achieve something similar to this, except it will go a lot smoother than you'd think listening to me. It will also be a lot less scarier than it seems. Are you smarter than Benjamin Franklin?

I am smarter than him, if only because I live in the future compared to him.
Liberties are there for a reason. If that reason can be taken care of by other means, that liberty becomes unnecessary. This is especially so when a liberty stands in the way of a better way to achieve what it tries to achieve itself.

What I'm talking about would actually work, it wouldn't be a mere illusion to control people. Rather, people would know about it and choose it for themselves. I'm sure people like you who couldn't accept it would be allowed to live in a ... more "free" society, if also more dangerous.
No it would be actual, irrevocable invasion of your mind with a presence and power you have no control or influence over.
You still haven't answer how the state/AI would technologically monitor thoughts....more utopia magic?
That is not what I am describing. In my scenario, not only would you have the choice to live in that society or not, you'd also be a part of the decision making based on your skills as evaluated by your peers(everyone else of your fellow citizens, more or less).

Even with you mind controlled hell of a society, you have still not addressed the root cause. You have only buried in pile care bear band-aids.

I'm not sure about that. But if nothing else works, sure.

The why of it is in the brain. Depending on the cause, you could either treat the cause as an illness or treat the patient himself. I am using treatment here in its widest possible sense.

No, the root cause is not in the brain. The cause is the current form of this adversarial society pitting people against each other for money and power. It's the entire world paradigm and it mostly has to do with the practice of industrial capitalism combined with commercialism. Infinite entertainment while you pay taxes then die....having never really lived.
There is no true sustenance or anything of lasting value in the increasingly secular/commercial culture. Cheap fabrications that fall apart as soon as you start using it. Obsolescence is planned and quit profitable....at yours and the planet's expense.
So in place of self generated worth is the stealing of someone else's.
I think the same could be said for many abortions, "this world sucks and i'm not bringing a kid into it."
You see, I too want to change the world and I will oppose your version to the death.
