In February, 2025, Lucas Timothy Hunt was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Hunt is credited as the person who made the popular ‘Thank You Jesus’ lawn signs.

On Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was given 36 months of supervised probation, with a chance for that to become unsupervised probation after 24 months. He will register as a sex offender for 30 years and provide DNA to law enforcement as part of this plea.

Upon Hunt’s arrest in 2025, Constance “Connie” Frazier, the president of the Thank You Jesus Mission, provided FOX8 with the following statement:

New York Archdiocese offers $800 million to settle sex abuse survivor claims

The Archdiocese of New York is proposing paying $800 million dollars to settle claims from 1,300 alleged sex abuse survivors.

The proposed settlement comes months after the church sold off valuable properties, laid off staff, and cut its operating budget to raise the funds. This marks one of the largest U.S. clergy payouts.

Under the proposed settlement, the $800 million will be paid into a trust for survivors over 15 months, with an initial $615 million payment. Accusers would have a $250,000 quick pay option. The church has also agreed to release documents regarding offenders and maintain a public list of accused clergy.

Puts me in mind of Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry debating the archbishop of Abuja John Onaiyek and Ann Widdecombe on the topic ‘The Catholic Church is a force for good in the world.

Naturally, the subject got round to child abuse and homosexuality. Hitch scored points saying that would be perfectly comfortable leaving Fry to care for his children, but if he called a babysitting service and the sitter showed up wearing Catholic vestments, he’d call the police.

Terrytown pastor Terry Reed found guilty of sexually abusing teens

Reed, 66, ministered from his North Marlin Court residence in Terrytown, mentoring the victims who had troubled home lives, the DA said.

According to the DA, Reed allowed them to move in with him and used bible verses and scripture to manipulate, normalize and justify his sexual behavior with them.

“He has preyed on these very, very troubled boys who don’t have a father figure in their lives,” Assistant District Attorney James Wascom told jurors in a closing argument Wednesday.

Reed was already a convicted sex offender before being found guilty for these crimes.

He pleaded guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile in 1997 and to indecent behavior with a juvenile and molestation of a juvenile in 2017, according to the DA.

In the later crime, he told the juvenile he had to submit to certain acts “to fight off demons.” He received probation in both cases, the DA said.

Reed added that his sexual relations with the teens occurred when they were 17, at the age of consent, meaning they were no longer juveniles and that no crime occurred, the DA’s office said.

Pastor found guilty of ‘sexually motivated’ battery charge

A pastor from Braxton County was found guilty on Friday of “a sexually motivated” battery charge involving a female member of his congregation, according to the county Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators said Allen inappropriately touched a young woman during a meeting to consult about “spiritual issues.”

Sentencing for Allen is set for 9:30 a.m. May 27. He faces possibly up to a year in jail and also must register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Ex-pastor sent to prison for life for sexually abusing child

Jeffrey Anthony Charles, 65, was found guilty by a jury in in Douglas County Circuit Court following a three-day trial in January.

Charles was convicted of third-degree sexual abuse in 1997 in Iowa. According to Thimm, Charles was sentenced to probation for the incident that involved a 15-year-old when Charles was 35.

Charles became a pastor at Neighbors to Nation church in Princeton, Minnesota, where the family of the victim in the case filed in Douglas County were parishioners. According to the victim’s statement read by District Attorney Mark Fruehauf, Charles was part of her family’s life before the victim was born in 2002.

A Douglas County sheriff’s detective in 2019 learned that parishioners routinely traveled to the Charles’ cabin in Summit, where some of the sexual assaults occurred between 2005 and 2010 while the victim was between the ages of 3 and 7.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim reported that Charles would tell her not to tell anyone when he was abusing her. By the age of 5, he became more aggressive and threatened to hurt her if she told anyone.

She stated there was a group of girls that Charles treated as special, and she observed Charles to be “extra handsy” with the special girls.
