Furthermore, if someone does choose to pursue college/university, isn't up to THEM to decide on which courses to take? No one is holding a gun to their head and saying "You must take course A and course B etc." People are free to choose the professions they want to get into, in the UK, last time I checked. Of course, you're exactly right. The push-back on ideology and race really comes in the humanities departments and to a lesser extent in the social sciences. What grates the most, for me, is this idea that students are somehow being shortchanged by reading "dead white males". As if Toni Morrison, Louise Erdrich, Amy Tan, and a host of other excellent authors associated with 'minority' perspectives in their fiction didn't read -- and gain immeasurably by reading -- Chaucer, Shakespeare, Cervantes, Swift, Dickens, Faulkner, Joyce, Kafka, etc. In the end, if people choose to shortchange themselves in their education, that is their prerogative, but I don't see any reason to make a virtue of it. And I certainly don't think it is the duty of universities to enable such willful self-hobbling.
Spare a thought for me then. I have to live in Europe. Not only that, the UK government doesn't even recognise my children even though I was born in the United Kingdom.
This is the sort of bollocks that I really detest. My children are Anglo-French, yet they have less rights than Somalians or Pakistanis. Here is just a part of the application process for just one of my children so, imagine two: http://prntscr.com/ckc2pu So yes, unfortunately, if you are white, then you'll get nowhere.
There was a similar movement here in the States about 25+ years ago that argued for Afrocentric revisionism. Idiotic claims such as Beethoven was black, iirc.
I wonder how these kids will get by when they discover that the world doesn't give a shit about their feelings? It won't be long until we are teaching white kids to apologise for their heritage. Careful, Bella. You're coming awfully close to adopting the mindset of the alleged conspiracy nutter you're railing against. I'd say you're actually there, but, you know....conclusions. Don't wanna to jump to them. None of the higher powers gives one iota about the future generations. Each generation that passes by is like that donkey who is following the carrot. RE: You can't make this shit up....

Are you suggesting that they don't have universities in Nigeria?
