The two threads are different. This is for what you're reading, yours is for rating any good books you've read recently. Don't worry, I'm sure people will use both as necessary.

Yeah, that's my bad, I now saw the thread title... I think he should at least change the title and then it would be just whatever you're reading instead, but that's not my choice to make, just a suggestion...

Just finished the 'Miss Peregrine' series, mainly in anticipation of the film. Not bad by half.

Nope. Not read any books at all lately.

Although I recently bought A.C. Grayling's Secular Bible "The Good Book".

Really! I plagarized a book thread. I was wondering if you knew something about Bolano that I should know.

I've just finished up Buddha's Brain. It's by a doctor whose name I don't feel like Googling. I'm reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child very slowly. It just hasn't grabbed me. I'm also reading a TIME magazine edition about mindfulness and Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg.

I'm reading Bridge of Spies by Giles Whittell. I never saw the movie but the book is fascinating.

I was cruising through Santa Cruz Bookstore and happened upon The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace by Jeff Hobbs. I couldn't put it down, it was good!

Let me know what you think. I started it, but couldn't get into it. Too dry or something.

Just finished McTeague by Frank Norris. I've read a load of books this year, but, this is by far the best novel I've discovered all year. I could do a whole Bum Reviews style "OHMYGODTHISISTHEGREATESTBOOKIVEEVERREADINMYLIFE" spiel, but I don't have the time. So, I'll just leave you with the last two paragraphs of the novel, easily one of the best ending images I've ever read in a novel:

Frank Norris Wrote:As McTeague rose to his feet, he felt a pull at his right wrist; something held it fast. Looking down, he saw that Marcus in that last struggle had found strength to handcuff their wrists together. Marcus was dead now; McTeague was locked to the body. All about him, vast interminable, stretched the measureless leagues of Death Valley.

McTeague remained stupidly looking around him, now at the distant horizon, now at the ground, now at the half-dead canary chittering feebly in its little gilt prison.
