You do realize the alternative is losing any timeline?
Meh, it's a death and rebirth without the courtesy of a new body but also without birth amnesia....if you jump into a very high tech age, you will be the dumb throwback but possibly also a kind of celebrity. If you jump into after a major crash of civilization, things are going to be shitopolis. Another possibility is to jump so far ahead/after major planetary catastrophe that humanity is but to tribal life. You could try your hand a being a God.

Would you rather have 2 extra legs, 2 extra arms or 1 extra head?
My pic is 2 extra arms for climbing, construction/art and instrument playing. One head is trouble enough and while running like a horse would be awesome, I will trample the first person to walk up to me with a saddle!

Well, not really, since the one is a branch of physics. They've become synonymous, but only through sloppy use of the terms. The way language evolves, basically.
