Here's a prediction. The republicunts will learn absolutely nothing from 2016. Oh sure, the pundits will sit there and say the party has to become more inclusive but the conservatards will insist that once again they lost because they failed to run a "true conservative." Since the primary votes they are striving for all seem to be from the nut wing of the party in 2020 there will again be a plethora of hopefuls each striving to show the primary voters that he/she is a bigger nazi than all the rest of the fucktards.
And around we will go again.
The GOP is in a Catch 22. They can't win with the 'ban the moozies and build a wall!' crowd...and they can't win without them. Their best long-term chance is to jettison them; but that would mean their power declining, possibly for decades, while they transform into something less hateful.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Yeah, they're not going to kick out the crazies because even though it doesn't help them on a national level, it still allows them to win a lot of seats in Congress. Enough to grind the government to a halt over a lot of things.

It's a path that leads to the greatest civilization the world has ever known... or at least as good as Sweden.
Another way life mirrors Paradox games, Sweden is overpowered.

And keep enough states gerrymandered.
What the dems really need to do is get their gotv working form midterms and state elections.

Unfortunately, my father is a huge Trump supporter, In spite of everything, and continues to spam his Facebook feed with bizarre conspiracy theory links and insulting pictures.
It was only twelve years ago that my dad considered voting for Kerry, even though he's always been a Republican (I've always been a Democrat). Back then, he was pro gay rights and equal rights. Taught me a lot about equality.
His turn towards conservative madness happened slowly over time since 2008, and I have no idea what's going on in his brain anymore. In person, he still has rational discussions, but when online, he latches onto any bizarre news article he can find.
I was hoping the events of the past week and the poll numbers would cause him to back down a bit, but he hasn't. I'm not only looking forward to the upcoming election as a Democrat, but as the son of a 57 year old Republican who really needs to lower his blood pressure.
Just finished watching the presidents speech in Cleveland. He talked about the bizarre conspiracy theories that were thrown at him and Hillary (they created ISIS, personally!), and how Republican members of Congress don't discourage members of their party from believing nonsense. If they do lose a lot of ground this year, I can only hope that they actually do try and change for the better a bit, instead of sinking further into the ground.
