RE: How the fuck is there a statute of limitations for rape in New York?

There's "rape" the crime, and "rape" the action.
So yes, whilst a person can't be convicted of a rape (crime) 5 years after it happened, that doesn't change the fact that the person raped (action) the victim.
Drich you appear to be ignoring the colloquial use of terms in favor of being overbearingly technical. For example, the phrase "he got away with murder" is a well known expression, even though by your argument if you don't get convicted of murder you aren't technically a murderer.
In short, I get where you are coming from but I don't think you're argument really applies to the underlying theme here. The event (rape, sexual assault, non-consensual sex, whatever you want to call it) still happened even if nobody got convicted for it.
Well the original point of the thread was to decry the fact that for a crime as serious as rape (or in fact any other sexual assault) actually has a statute of limitations appended to it. As I said, here in Ireland or in the UK you could theoretically be brought to trial 100 years afterwards if you were alive and compos mentis enough to defend yourself and if the DPP (Ireland, England & Wales) or the Lord Advocate (Scotland) found that evidence was strong enough to prosecute. So, I find the US system whereby you can be effectively scot free from the second worst thing you could do to a person in as little as five years to be absurd.
Drich just derailed the thread with his sociopathy.

Yes, and that's the exception. In most countries there is a statute on every crime except murder. And even that is relatively new in most European countries. Up until the 60ies it was 25 years and only got changed because of the fear of war criminals getting away.
But at the same time we don't have Double Jeopardy. You can be indicted numerous times for the same crime if some new evidence comes up.

Well, I've already explained to Nymph that I'm not in agreement with him over all the particulars regarding the side issues and diversions; there were countless, and I didn't catch them all. His somewhat inept attempts at clarifying his position, coupled with my complete willingness to assume the worst about him, made it all too easy for me to not listen to him.
What I do believe, is that his actual intent was to illustrate how vital timely reporting is to the process, and to offer his own "unique" help/advice on how to recover. It's crystal clear to me, after re-reading much of thread and making a conscious effort to be objective, but that's just my personal takeaway. I don't expect that everyone will reach the same conclusion.
Nah, his intent was to denigrate and shame Nymhadora for what happened to her. Like all christards he is now backtracking because the shit he flung hit the fan and spewed all over him.

I reached the same conclusion. And I believe he is genuine in his insistence that assaults need to be reported as soon as possible. What I wasn't able to discern from his thoughts no matter how hard I tried is why he's so hung up on the use of the word, "rape" within a victim's internal dialogue. I understand he is concerned about false accusations, and justifiably so. But, acknowledging "I was raped" is only an acknowledgement of the act itself, not necessarily an accusation against any specific individual. I don't get why that troubles him so deeply. I think deep down there is a human person in Drich. I think he had a human comment to make on this topic. I just couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what it was.

I think there's a human person in Drich sure...but he didn't have a human comment. He posts with the sole intention of trolling people on this forum. There's nothing human about posting jerk off smilies in response to a rape victim. I don't believe in any of the good intentions he claims to have here. I'm sure he's got them irl. I have a hard time believing that he's this disgusting despicable person afk. But he comes to AF to troll people. He doesn't care about anyone here. He doesn't care about saving our souls. He doesn't care about encouraging people to report rapes. He's here to troll and that is all.

Hell if I know.
Drich often gets hung up/fixated on specific words, as far as I can tell. That particular tendency of his is rather frustrating when discussing matters with him in other threads, too.
*And, I can't see it when you quote me anymore, LFC.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the Tapatalk thing? I saw an alert from you earlier today.

Oh, that's weird. You mean you aren't getting alerts that I've quoted you in this thread? I'm following the thread as well, but haven't gotten ANY alerts for new posts. [emoji34] Sometimes I love Tapatalk, and sometimes I really HATE it. So many bugs!

Have I ever mentioned that I've got a bad habit of giving people more credit than they probably deserve?
