The Earth isn't exactly a living organism though.
Or do you just mean we should just respect it as if if were one and that's all your point is?

Yes. Current "civilization" is largely parasitic and cancerous to the rest of the living environment....until we change our interactions or the heath of the host is impacted negatively to the point it can no longer support us....which it's already in the later stages of.

The biosphere is entirely made up of biological organisms with DNA and not stuff like the earth itself right?
Also plants are alive but not conscious and they matter because they matter to animals.

They also in mass regulate the extremes of the environment; atmospheric gases, incoming solar radiation and surface albedo, etc.
