OK, I found the Lisa tract.

I detect no heresy in that one, so what's the problem ??

The problem is the disgusting idea that a guy who's molested & raped his daughter for years which resulted in gaving her herpes and subsequent mental trauma is perfectly OK as soon as he accepts Jesus as his personal savior and will never, ever rape her again.  After all, he's a fine, upstanding Christian now.  And instead of calling the police upon discovering sexual abuse the best thing a doctor can do is convert the rapist to Christianity.

In other words, as long as everybody's a good Christian we'll just sweep any wrongdoing, no matter how terrible, under the rug.  Fuck the victim.

I didn't say it was.  I said it was disgusting.  And Jack Chick was disgusting.

Although, crazy fundies like him have done far more to drive people away from Christianity than anything we atheists could have ever done.  His tracts became a parody of themselves.

I'm fairly certain that even in 1984, when the tract was published, the doctor would have had to be a mandatory reporter for a man who gave his daughter herpes. Of course, it should be noted that Jack has historically had very little respect for any accurate portrayal of the law. One of his earliest tracts has a murderous convict freed after his mother volunteers to be hanged in his place and one of the later ones has a judge condemn a kid whose life he saved, and whom he has given a birthday card every year since even though any judge worth his salt would have recused himself, and then there's this monstrosity where somehow a woman sues a little girl for $10 million for turning her daughter on to Jesus and having four clergymen dispute her claim that Jesus is the only way to heaven as if that meant anything.

Ah, I remember getting one of those tracts as a "tip" when I used to waitress. Something about how Catholics are going to burn in hell. I would have rather had no tip at all. :/

I wonder which is worse... getting a Chick tract as a tip, or getting one of those fake $20 bills which say "There's something more valuable than money" with bible verses written on it.  I've read many stories from angry wait staff who got one of those in lieu of a real tip.
