I believe that there is an almost p=1 probability of the existence (past or present) of intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe.
I also believe that the reason we have never made contact is that the nature of intelligent life is to destroy itself.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I believe that reality exists and that reason is reliable.

The external world. For all I know, I'm a disembodied consciousness and all the things I think I see and feel are simply a side effect of that particular state of being. No one can prove that this isn't the case.
*shrug* I don't find it necessary to have proof of a thing to believe that it exists. I do, however, insist on what is called 'the reasonableness of belief', i.e. that belief is justified if such belief is more reasonable than the absence of the belief. Thus, I believe in the external world but not Bigfoot, just as I believe in extraterrestrial life but not gods. Boru
