That is a good question. Yes, I would. Perhaps you have heard of Abraham, who God asked to kill his first and only son, Isaac. Abraham obeyed, and was about to kill him when God intervened and provided a ram as a sacrifice in place, seeing that Abraham was faithful to obey. This isn't to say that I would expect God to do the same for me, and I would hope and pray that God wouldn't ask me to do such a difficult and seemingly horrific thing, but if God clearly asked me to, who am I to disobey God?

You're insane.

You Americans are really a special breed. Tongue

Stupid question: how does Catholicism match up with the contents of the bible?

There are Bible colleges in other countries as well ;D

I am not Catholic, and am definitely not an expert in all things Catholic. However, in Catholicism, they have the Bible we have, but also use other books. Their beliefs are very different, and they tend to believe in good works salvation rather than salvation by faith in Christ. Some Evangelical Christians do not even consider catholics to be saved Christians.

I am an evangelical Christian. That is a sect of protestant Christianity that believes the Bible to be the inerrent word of God. We believe in salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, who was born of a virgin, lived about 30 years, taught, and performed miracles, never sinning, and then was killed on a cross in order to pay the price for sins we have committed. 3 days after he died, he rose again, and is alive today.

Wait, didn't Jesus doubt God? Isn't that a sin?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Don't Catholics believe in that, too?

What are your views on slavery, as it relates to the OT? Oh, and would you be upset if I told you I was wearing Lycra and cotton at the same time?

Old Testament laws. Some Jews still strictly follow all of these. I was working in a camp kitchen when a Jewish group was there and they could not eat meat and dairy in one meal. It was very interesting.

But off of that bunny trail, no, I do not believe its sinful to mix meat and dairy. I do not think it is sinful that women have short hair. I do not condemn wearing lycra and cotton at the same time. I see slavery as wrong, though culturally, it may have once been acceptable granted masters treat their slaves rightly.

The Old Testament law was irradiated when Jesus came. There are some moral implications that are still important to follow- those are reiterated in the New Testament. The Old Testament's purpose in the life of the Christian is to give the history of our faith system. It also shows how prophecy was fulfilled, which reaffirms our beliefs.

What's wrong with practicing slavery? Bible never says a word against it.

No one has asked this :Big Grin

I believe that homosexuality and transgender is a sin. However, I think it is entirely wrong for Christians to hate and shame LGBT people for this. Yes, it is a sin, but I am a sinner too. We all need the forgiveness of Christ Jesus. Really, when I meet LGBT people, I don't try to make them change. I show them that I care for them as they are, though am clear that I don't think it is right. Its not my job to convict people of their sin. I'll leave that to the Holy Spirit. If I were to hate homosexuals and transponder people, I'd have to hate liars, cheaters, those who are greedy, those who are selfish... I don't have time for so much hate. And I'd have no friends. And I'd be a huge hypocrite.

If the voice of God told you to kill an abortion doctor, would you do it?

That's truly frightening.  You're just one schizophrenic episode away from becoming a murderer.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
