'Murricans have had smoke blown up their asses for so long that they really think they are special.  Drumpf promises to "bring back jobs" and they say "YEAH!" instead of "How?"  Or "which jobs?"  They aren't going to assemble cell phones for $1 an hour.  Automation and technology will continue to displace blue collar workers and they will face the same dilemma they face now.  Acquire new skills which are of value in the marketplace or watch the world pass you by.

And that's why I think Trump will fail as a president and only be a 1-term president.  He's promised middle America pie in the sky that he can't deliver on, and after 4 years of their lives not improving they'll feel betrayed and abandoned by the guy they voted for to make things better.

Even if that's true, all he has to do is wave his hands and claim he was just joking or indulging in loose 'guy talk'. 50/50 his supporters will give him a pass. It's worked so far.

Actually everyone been able to explain it

1.The bigots have never had a person who really represented them

2. Hillary failed to rally the non bigots to her banner

3. look at the Obama administration

4. you do realize that at the of that story there really was a wolf

I don't know, D-T.  Even stupid people hate to admit they've been conned.

But I think he's going to be such a terrible president that he'll make people wish G. W. Bush was back in office.

I already do.  I would usher Bush back in on a red carpet. I'd give Romney a big fat hug and 2 thumbs up.

However, human tend to double down when they are shown they are wrong.  It's a factual thing.  I'm sure those who are cheering today will still be blaming Obama for any problems that crop up in the next 4 years, and saying how they were right all along.

Hell, even I think that Shrub was Mensa material compared to this assclown. And I'm not even American. Bad as Shrub was, he at least had some intelligent people in his staff. What Trump showed us thus far are fanatics, yes men and outright idiots.

This is overstepping the line between civilization and outright savagery. Can't say I'm really surprised, given who was running against him. Apart from Hillary being as popular as the small pocks, she is a woman. I remember asking the members here a year ago, if the USA are ready for accepting a woman running for office. Most people said yes, but I had my doubts from day one. The old white male is still running strong in your country. And I think this played into the outcome.

Did you think that 4 years ago?

Trump wasn't running for president 4 years ago.

Hillary Clinton will probably win the popular vote. A simple majority backed her over Trump.

On the other hand, it looks like she'll get around five-to-ten million fewer votes than Obama did in his two election victories. Trump will get about as many votes as Romney or McCain did in those elections (which is about three million fewer than W got in 2004). Clinton's total will be about the same as Kerry's from 2004.

Trump won because Republican voters voted in the same numbers as the past eight years. Maybe they held their noses as they did so, maybe they did so proudly. But they voted. Hillary lost because, as Chuck Todd said earlier tonight, the Obama Coalition turned out to be just that: an OBAMA coalition. If the DNC can find a way to get that 5/10 million strong block of voters to the polls for a candidate other than Obama, they may have a very bright political future. If not, well... that's a staggering amount of apathy and lost opportunities for the political left.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

The thing is... the Social Justice Warrior style 'liberal' of "I'm so offended, agree with me or you're a bigot." Isn't actually liberal at all. Liberal is about liberty... It's like covert Right masquerading as liberal. It's fake hipster liberal, it's "look at me I'm so liberal! Only not really and please shut the fuck up if you disagree with me." liberal. It's pretentious bossy liberal. SJWs aren't liberal at all. They're pseudo-liberal fuckers who wish to silence free speech as they demand their own free speech. It's all about "FREE SPEECH! FREE SPEECH! Unless you say something I don't like in which case I'll tell you you're offensive, have no right to free speech, and that you're encroaching on my free speech and need to be silenced."

I fucking hate them SJW fuckers.

End rant.

This is why this kind of liberal is dubbed the "regressive left".

They're so left wing they're right wing about it.

We think of it in terms of that little 4 square grid but it's more of a circle.  The far right and far left have pretty much everything in common except for the subjects to which they apply their shared tendencies. They certainly have more in common with each other than either does with a centrist.

(obvs I only mean that as it relates to the american scene...which has been nosediving collectively into authoritarianism regardless of it's being left or right- no idea how it plays out elsewhere)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
