Any anti-feminists? Any feminists?

RE: Any anti-feminists? Any feminists?
You can be a self-identified feminist and also be critical of radical feminism. They're not contradictory, in fact you could even argue that the screaming radical feminism is bad for the advancement of women if it pushes generally sympathetic people away (something that I think is responsible for Trump btw, like I said in another thread).

I find the claims that women and minorities are equal to white men a stretch though. Yes we're past the days of high discrimination, slavery, women barred from voting and working, segregation etc. That doesn't mean there isn't a legacy of these things that continues with relatively more subtle manifestations into today.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

Why are people feminists? Women have equal rights, so do minorities.[...]

What the f*ck do minorities have to do with feminism?

Did you miss the fact, that Americans voted for a guy, who practically admitted sexual assault, not to mention his many misogynistic remarks made in public, during his campaign? And that many people seem to consider bragging about sexual assault a normal thing among men, "locker room talk"? And that despite hundreds of years of political rights, a woman still hasn't been the President of US? And that when one runs for the office she's judged in complete different way, than her male opponent? Because a guy calling Mexicans "rapists" and women "dogs", a guy who mocks the handicapped and war-heroes is fine, while a woman calling people "deplorable" is an utterly unlikable b*tch.

I though that would have shut you up for a bit longer, but I guess I overestimated you.

I guarantee you, if the roles had been reversed, noone would have said, oh your wife stays home with the kid, do you even have a family income? Voilà, gender stereotypes against women which hurt both men and women.

My wife and I have similar incomes, she actually earns a little more than I do. We chose to be her taking the maternity leave. Never the less, I like to geab my baby daughter after work in the cart and go out for a beer. People look at me, usually older people, with surprise for my care and interaction with the baby. I am actually quite proud to let people know that men can take part on baby growth. She has been exclusively breastfed and its going fine with it only. In the meanwhile, she and dad go out for a stroll.

Also, many feminists are not really occupied with giving women more power to enslave men (though I did date a girl like that once - well, we were 16, lol) but rather with getting rid of harmful gender stereotypes which affect everyone negatively. The fem in the name feminist is then more like  a historical artifact...

Another thing - if equal rights to you just means having the same rights on paper, you neglect that women have to carry the burden of child bearing for the rest of us, and someone interested in progressive politics might be in favor of compensating for that somehow. To what extent and how needs to be discussed.

At the end of the day, the label as you use it is not usefulto me anymore  because it means what you want it to mean to make whatever provokative point you are trying to make.

Can you give me an example of a harmful gender stereotype?

Yes, women are treated differently by some people but does make it so they don't have the same rights? No that's why feminism is not required.
It started with addressing the problem with women's rights. Now it only does more harm.

Okay, your wife has a good job. You guys have a good income.
How does this stereotype that you don't have as much money hurt anyone?
You guys still have that money.

And stereotypes are generalizations for a reason. You can't get rid of generalizations.

Why are people feminists? Women have equal rights, so do minorities. The "Civil Rights Act of 1964" ensures they get the same pay and employment opportunities in the workplace (based on merits and skills).

And women are people so the constitution obviously applies to them.

Sure some people aren't treated nicely but what's feminism gonna do about it? Stop people from speaking? Limiting freedom of speech?

Sure, we needed feminism at one point, just like how Islamic countries need it now. But second wave and third wave serve no purpose.

Maybe they don't have the same opportunities? Well there's egalitarianism. And what's up with people getting pissed about these labels.

"No I don't wanna be called egalitarian because I RESPECT HUMANS".

Jesus do you want a pat on the back for being a "non-racist" too?

P.S
America is not a rape culture. Rape is illegal, and who promotes rape?
*my emphasis*

Second wavers get no guff from me, it's the third wave, shrieking, lunatics who do. In that way I suppose I'm an anti-feminist. The part I put in bold is what concerns me about the regressives in the feminist movement, there's a lot of them that would love to censor free speech and the way our media can be expressed. Fuck that, and fuck those faux-moralist busybodies.

Second wavers still believe they don't have equal pay.

The guy who talks about grabbing women by the pussy.

How? How does joking about something promote rape?

Does hilary promote suicide? She joked about suicide.
Does hilary promote rape? She let a pedophile get away by finding a loophole while her defendant was being prosecuted.

I refuse to abstain from using that particular label (among many, many others) to define myself, simply because others have no personal use for said label, misconceive my notion of feminism due to someone else's radical views, or because they find the notion itself, "stupid".

I tend to file that sort of shit under "Not My Problem".

Why are you feminist?
