Don't be dense, Divi Tiberio. There are self-styled militia groups - i.e. racists with guns - patrolling the border. They don't give a shit about the difference between immigrants and refugees. Frankly, I can't wait for the day when two of these groups start blasting each other.
But it is not just them..... there's this:

Play the video.
It's not one of our finer moments.

I fail to see why referencing militia makes any point?
Right, same with bringing up the whole racism thing when no one's opinion here in this discussion has anything to do with race. I was just like "uh, what? Where did that come from?"
Red herring.

Of course, sometimes their madness rises to the level of amusing.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-...mmigrants/
Quote:Arizona politician mistakes a bus full of YMCA kids for undocumented immigrants
Quote:Kwasman was in the middle of a fiery speech about "Lady Justice" when he spotted a yellow school bus and dashed off with the protesters to greet it. He snapped a picture which he tweeted with he message "Bus coming in. This is not compassion. This is the abrogation of the rule of law." "I was able to actually see some of the children in the buses and the fear on their faces. This is not compassion," Kwasman told 12 News reporter Brahm Resnik. There was just one problem: Those weren't undocumented kids. They were YMCA campers from the Marana Arizona school district.
BTW, Oracle is a shithole in the middle of the desert.

Red herring.
If by bringing up "the whole racism thing" you mean pointing out the plain and abject racism at play in our handling of the immigration reform issue...not just since the trumpsters but long before it....... then yeah, total fucking red herring.
Because here I am referring to reality, not your mental safe spaces. You'd think it was pointing out racism and not the fact that racism and racist shitwads exist and are now at the helm of the ship that was the problem, for some of these comments. Racist shitwads thrive on that. People are so uncomfortable even talking about it, they become so incredibly defensive and dismissive of the very subject in that defensiveness.
We've got Tibs over there, with all the sympathy he doesn;'t have...and you pretending as if this is the first you've heard of the problem. "Golly gee fellas, whats wrong with securing your borders and deporting people :wink-wink:". Allow me to propose that this shit, right here, is part of the problem. Tibs, just -try- a little sympathy, see how that works out. Cath, genuinely approach a real issue that concerns millions of people.

What are you guys even talking about. Did I miss a whole section of this conversation where we started talking about what was going on with immigration rather than talking about what should be done about it?
I came into this conversation asking why illegal immigrants should not be deported. That has nothing to do with militia, nor do militia have a say in government policy.
When I make the point that immigrants and refugees are separate things (and they are), and nobody here is saying that we should deport refugees, why even being up militia? This thread is about our opinions, not the opinions of militia groups.

My bold.
I've been here for the whole thread and I was asking myself those same questions.

Just so everyone is on the same page here:
There is a difference asking "what is the government doing about illegal immigrants / what will they do about illegal immigrants?" and "what should the government do about illegal immigrants?"
Pretty sure I've been talking about / asking questions about the latter.

Yep, definitely talking about the latter. Which is why I don't understand why people started to counter my stance by bringing Trump and racism into the equation, when my stance has nothing to do with Trump or race.

Seems to me like you might have been discussing what government is doing, when you referred to your experience, and referred to what you saw as the right way to do it based upon that experience, because, you know, that's how you did it.
Like I already made explicitly clear, if we're doing the whole fantasyland song and dance I'm not interested. If you're responding to something -I say-...you;'re responding to a comment regarding the reality of immigration, not the scrubbed version that might exist in your mind of how it -should- be done. If you ask me whats racist about x...for example, I'm going to tell you, lol. You;re not going to get a "in principle, theoretically, in a better world where we were better people, and assuming that the events of the last few years hadn't played out and there were no legacy systems or entrenched perceptions......yadda yadda yadda".

I was talking about my stance on immigration in terms of what I think ought to be done.
