RE: When religion is at odds with climate change research

I agree that to many Christians do not believe in global warming, I'm not in that camp, many listen to their mentors instead of looking into it for themselves. Then there are those who reject the idea and do so because scientist do not completely agree on the cause. There are many non Christians that reject climate change because of money, whether they real believe it or not who knows. Christians are not to be blamed for climate change, we are not the ones holding back the solution, why because we all do not agree on climate change nor do we have the money to effect decisions.
I believe that the climate has changed we only need to look at the world to see something's wrong. What exactly it is I haven't come to a conclusion yet because the sciences behind it do not agree.
As for those Christians who think God will protect this world from man's destruction they need to read and understand what God has told us. God says He will return early to keep man from destroying himself. Something to think about since we seem to be doing just that very thing according to some scientist.

My response to those people would be "How do you know that the scientists aren't God's way of stopping it? You can't just assume his plan is to take care of everything. Surely this god would want us to not be fully dependent on him for everything. After all, there are starving children in Africa, and praying doesn't feed them. You either think that God doesn't care about those starving children, doesn't exist, or he wants us to help them ourselves. Pick one."
It reminds me of the old joke.
There was a priest who was drowning in the ocean. He called out to God for help.
All of a sudden, a canoe came and the guy said "Father, let me help you".
The priest replied "No, no my son. The Lord will save me."
The canoe leaves and the father calls out to God again. All of a sudden, a yacht showed up. The captain said "Father, let me help you". The priest again replied "No my son, the Lord will save me". The yacht leaves and the father is calling out to God again. All of a sudden, a big cruise ship showed up. The captain said with a megaphone "Father, let us help you". The priest again replied "No my son, the Lord will save me."
The priest drowns and he's in heaven face to face with God. He said "My Lord. I called out to you but you didn't help me. Why?"
God replied: "I did help you. I sent you three ships".
I mean "his plan will all work out in the end' is silly. If he existed, it'd be possible for his plan to be to let us destroy ourselves and our planet if we get so bad that we ignore the planet as we have. I mean according to the stories Christians believe.. he once drowned the whole world. Letting us burn our world seems to be more our own fault than his.

The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

My guess is that addressing global warming can mean making some sacrifices to personal convenience. They don't want to do that, so they assume their imaginary friend will sort out the problem instead.

When religion can marshal people against the secure science of evolution, it's no big surprise it does the same for global warming. Once you throw your hat in with anti-intellectualism, you're all in.

What makes you believe that Christians are fighting against global warming? What reason would we have to fight against it, what benefit would we get from fighting against global warming. Jump on the ones who have the most to lose, oil and coal companies, car manufactures act.

The volume with which evangelical christians, in particular amongst their religious peers, object to the very notion of anthropogenic climate change in the first place. Same reason that people think "christians" want to overturn roe v wade and other such crazy shit, despite consistent polling to the contrary. The nuts scream the loudest. They can't help it, they're committed.......they have actual faith, lol.

Facts have ceased to matter.

I read the article and its from biased sorces, that said the article never said Christians were trying to hinder climate change science, it did insinuated that Christian have other concerns they consider more important. Scientist themselves are in debate as to what is causing global warming which keeps me from committing to an actual cause and until that cause is certain then some of today's desired action could prove to be overly costly, ineffective, or lead us down the wrong road and cause it to be to late for a right fix.
Christian know that some day God will destroy this world and create a new one, perfect in every way, we know the end is coming and this might be God's way to begin the end. We have our salvation and are not afraid of the future, though atheists want to disagree but I know many Christians and we believe our future as free worshipers is at stake, giving us a different view of what's important.
