The only problem I see with it is when you want to kudos a particular post but end up kudosing the lot instead. No biggie, really.

I could have fun with this ... Wait 'til a post garners some likes, then append something outrageous to it ...
I like the way your mind works.
I'm sorry about that mini-derail earlier.
I don't know what came over me. (December 5, 2016 at 8:38 pm)Tiberius Wrote: Also it wastes database space. Unless people are quoting and requoting the Encyclopedia Britannica, or you are limited to 16-bit # of records, then no, not really. I personally don't like it when my posts get conjoined, because I make separate posts addressing separate people or ideas. Having one more title bar to prevent someone from having to pare out all the stuff they don't care about to respond to what I said to them seems worth. That metadata adds up when person posts multiple times without editing their post. Also the indexing of the posts table in the database gets increasingly large and takes more time to search, among other things. Having one more title bar to prevent someone from having to pare out all the stuff they don't care about to respond to what I said to them seems worth. I browse using mobile and those multiple disparate ideas make the UX rather awful with increasing amounts of UI duplication for no reason. From a DBA perspective, adding spurious rows on a heavily denormalized schema seems ridiculous. Never grow your data faster than is absolutely necessary. You might enjoy seeing all the window dressing around your multiple short posts but for people with smaller screens it is awful. So let my contribution towards this be mainly focused on the UX/UI, with a side of "lessons I've learned in working with large databases". Slave to the Patriarchy no more
