FOX is the US equivalent of Pravda. You don't turn to FOX for information.
Rupert Murdoch, his vile influence on US media and the Republican dismantling of the fairness doctrine has done more damage to to the US (and ultimately the world).
I remember a time when Glenn Beck and all these irrational idiots were unheard of-- except on AM radio at 2 in the morning. Now they are everywhere on US airwaves, and not just on FOX. By the mid 90s this started to change. Now they are doing their damndest to shove the overton window even further to the right, making even Nixon and Reagan look like liberals today.

It's interesting that most of us would abhor the banning of The Sun or The Times, because we believe in freedom of the press, and we would fight a government edict that a new tax be introduced to publish a government-regulated newspaper. But when it comes to broadcast news, we're more than happy to ban any provider we don't like and impose State rules right across news reporting, and pay through the nose for a lumbering State-controlled information provider. It's what we're used to, I suppose, a bit like the Soviet masses were for 60 years.

That might work, only you CAN compare shit to diarrhea. For example, they both come out your ass, they both stink, they are both waste products produces by your body, etc etc.
I've seen both Fox is the US and the BBC in the UK.They have little in common. Fox aims at the lowest common denominator.EG those people who not only think Sarah Palin is deep, but that their president is both a Muslim and a Socialist. They are also unable to distinguish him from Tiger Woods.
The BBC and our equivalent in Australia, the ABC and SBS are controlled by charter, set by parliament. Here the lunar right has always accused the ABC of bias, when they're really upset about reasonable balance and objectivity. The commercial news is beyond the pale, and I seldom watch it.

The reason that religious programming on the BBC has declined, I suspect, is because no-one wants to watch it. Even people who call themselves religious would rather hack their own hands off with a rusty saw than sit through whole evenings of 'Songs and Praise'.
As for the liberal bias, I don't think it's that obvious in the programming. But it's inevitable that the members of the BBC staff are mostly liberal, because journos tend to be, because they have a grip on reality.
'We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.' H.L. Mencken
'False religion' is the ultimate tautology.
'It is just like man's vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions.' Mark Twain
'I care not much for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.' Abraham Lincoln

I presume you mean television journalists. That's true here of some ABC journalists, but not overall by any means. There a few token left wing print journalists here, and no longer an effective political left.
I wasn't aware that any part of the media in the UK or US was dominated by the left.

Quote:Cardinal Keith O’Brien said the BBC’s news coverage is contaminated by “a radically secular and socially liberal mindset”.
Radically secular? Is that supposed to be an insult? Secular=unbiased when it comes to religion, as opposed to pro or anti religion..... Oooh shocking, things are radically unbiased at the moment, the Catholic Church doesn't like it. Oh dear!

I wasn't saying that BBC and FOX where the same. Far from it. I was just pointing out it was a very bad comparison to use.

You already have it. It's the BBC.
Do you watch the bbc or tried its website?
I doubt it because you seem to be talking out your arsehole.
here is the website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/
As you can see it has little in the way of emotive rants and opinion pieces, unlike that shit machine fox news, whose website I do frequent, its a chuckle and gives me an insight into the right of the american psyhe.
Which brings me to a question, where should I go to encounter the 'liberal media bias'? I cant seem to find it in america, (unless you count the onion)
