It shouldn't matter as to what someone else thinks anyway. The choice of whether and how a person wants to die should be entirely up to that person. We are forced into this world, we should have a say on whether we want to continue on with it or not..

Once wiping my own arse becomes a challenge, I'll be wolfing down those sleeping pills and wrapping that plastic bag around my face as fast as my rickety old frame will allow.
I've never understood this maniacal need to keep people alive at any cost, even though by now they're more tubes than human and every moment is indescribable agony.

The logic behind forcing people to live is a method by the government to keep the taxes rolling in. If assisted suicide was legal tomorrow and we had companies providing us with pain free death then the government will be forced to make sure it's citizens stays happy.
Without us there is no government, controlling our death is a way of enslaving us. We can never truly be free until we have a right to decide when we want to stop living.

It shouldn't be so much a black and white issue though, because the government still has a duty to protect the vulnerable. Unfortunately, there are people out there who get off on others committing suicide. Yep, it's an actual fetish. If we completely give assisted suicide free reign, there will be people out there who won't hesitate to take advantage of mentally ill individuals for their own gratification.
If someone has a terminal illness and they want to take a pill that will put them to sleep and kill them painlessly, I think that should be legally permissible. But only if the doctor agrees to it, and no doctor should be forced to offer that kind of "service."
Personally I think it's a heinous thing and not at all ethical on the part of the doctor. If I was a doctor I would never agree to that myself. But again, when we have 2 consenting adults in a professional, medically controlled setting... the government should stay out of it.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Well, everything comes with risks, CL, there are people that have a fetish to sexualize children, doesn't mean we don't let the kids off the house though.
If assisted suicide is ruled legal we'll just have to make certain laws that protect people from being preyed upon, ie, we'll just take mental abuse much more seriously that we do now, so when we take mental abuse much more seriously this will cause the suicide rate to actually go down.
Can you believe that? Legalizing suicide will actually have a chance on lowering the suicide rates.

I'm definitely with you on that one but if you were ever in that position you shouldn't have to do it with sleeping pills or pain killers. It should be completely legal and offered on the NHS.
It would only cost £27.23 (maybe a tiny bit higher now) for the lethal dose of the drug that would put you into a peaceful sleep and stop your breathing, so it's not really that much of a strain on the NHS considering the silly shit they piss money down the drain on already.

Big Pharma will be forced to cut the prices down to negligible profit because people will just choose to die than spend a million trying to stay alive.
A whole multi billion industry is based on the oppression of one of our rightfully deserving human right. Think about it.

Yep. Think about the shift of power. If the government treats us like shit we'll just kill ourselves. This will force them to treat us better. Just think about the shift of power overnight. Governments of the world will be evaluated on its ability to keep its citizens alive and happy and if they can't keep us content they'll simply vanish into irrelevance and slowly into oblivion.
Just think about that shift of power..
Edit: You know how many million our government spends on completely irrelevant research? How much spend on defense? What about its people? Aren't we paying our taxes so that our government can serve us better? Or are we just slaves paying our taxes to the government for the government?
It's complete bullshit that they have to force us to be alive to serve them. Shit, we aren't free at all. We're still slaves.
