Are millennials too sensitive?

Theology students at a prestigious U.K. university were warned they may witness disturbing images when reading about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The University of Glasgow in Scotland introduced the ‘trigger warnings’ for students taking the class "Creation to Apocalypse: Introduction to the Bible (Level 1)."

Trigger warnings were introduced to warn people of content that could trigger emotional distress. In certain cases, students are allowed to leave the lecture and professors are instructed to check up on the student later in the day.

Man, you said it.  Where my wife works she has to deal with the younger generation all the time.  She's a supervisor and TWICE she had to have one staff spend the entire shift with another staff because the second staff was "Having thoughts of self-harm".  All the time people call in saying that the job just has them too stressed and they need some time.  Yes, it is a stressful job.  You want a fucking paycheck?  Then do the work.  You can be stressed at work and get a paycheck that makes you less stressed in your personal life or you can quite working so there's no stress there and then deal with the stress of trying to figure out how you're going to survive.  Life isn't an episode of Jersey fucking Shore.  I don't give a fuck about your personal baggage.  Drop your personal shit at the door, do your fucking job and pick it back up on your way home.

I'd hardly call opposing this ridiculous culture of trigger warnings hatred. God. Keep this up and in 2 years you're going to be called a bigot and other trendy words if you don't support this terrible cancer of a culture. I just can't put my head around people needing these safe spaces and this trigger warnings. I mean, in the highly unlikely event where someone talks about rape in an event advertised as for discussion of ice-cream flavors -you can just get up and leave the damn place you entitled assholes.you have legs, get up and walk out instead of ruining the experience for the other 100,000 people interested in the subject you damn snowflake. Don't just sit there expecting everyone to coddle you. C'mon. Imagine the amount of entitlement if one outright refuses to do any sort of introspection and expects - no demands - the environment to cater to their feeble feelings and glass skin. Grow up you're not 12 hell even 12 year olds with their lollipops are more gangsta than these idiots hahaha

Millenials aren't being driven to the right Crunchy(we're notoriously hard left but simultaneously non-voters...lol), and no one is being driven away from liberal political ideology by sjw or pc culture in the first place.  That's a convenient way for people to rationalize their apathy and antipathies, though.  It also happens to be the way that the far right has framed the issue to build political capital against the center-right democratic establishment (which millennials also loathe, no love lost, though, since the democratic establishment ignores us anyway).

Unfortunately, folks drink the koolaid with surprising frequency.

This is exactly the point. You're not likely to encounter a safe space or a trigger warning, ever. You clearly don't run in that kind of circle. Most of the examples of this shit come up in ethics or sociology courses, and they are for the discussion of the topic. There is no threat to free speech, you couldn't talk about boobies at work to begin with, pool. You sound just like these moron Trump supporters who don't like the backlash from their racist tweets. Free speech means the government cannot sanction or imprison you based on the things you say, not that people cannot have a reaction and make you feel stupid for saying stupid shit.

These things are such a rarity, they are just reported on like they are a pandemic. I am back in college for two years now. I go to the biggest college in the state of Tennessee, and I have yet to even hear about a safe space or seen a trigger warning. It isn't common, nor is it a culture that is spreading. It is a swing of the pendulum. Sometimes the pendulum swings too far, but it never stays that way.

Private companies can fire you for any reason provided it doesn't constitute harassment, discriminatory practices or illegal retaliation.

Which means they always could fire you for talking about "boobies".

Free speech protects you from the government, not from private entities having enough of your crap and shitcanning you.

I disagree and I believe you will be seeing more and more people leaning right as we saw with the Brexit vote and the support for Trump and the push to the right in Europe. It is starting to become common place to point out the ridiculousness of these things as you can see with very popular (with the young) comedians who talk about it all the time. You may think it odd that I would reference comedians like Bill Burr, Joe Rogan, Chris Rock, Daniel Tosh, Louis C.K, Dave Chappelle etc... but don't underestimate the power of comedy expose the ridiculous to the broader culture. When artists start piling on liberals I think it inevitable that people will start to think that liberals have no more claim to intelligence than conservatives and won't shy away from voting that way.

PC, SJW, safe spaces, etc.. may seem like small potatoes but tipping points based on small things happen all the time. I can't prove beyond a doubt any of this, but I see it happening everyday and I see the harm that misapplication of good intentions causes and I sense the anger against liberals that these "small" issues are causing. 
I don't think my concern that a shift to the right because of this is misplaced.

IDK much about the demographics of the brexit vote, but Trump support wasn't a millennial thing.  Hillary absolutely crushed Trump on the millennial portion of the vote, among the less than half of us who voted at all, and millennials aren't exactly in love with Hillary. I thought we were talking ideologies, not candidates? I didn't vote for Hillary because shes a center right corporatist shill (as Obama turned out to be, btw, some liberal we got ourselves there). I didn't vote for Trump because I'm not an ignorant bigot, lol.

Care to explain how pc and sjw are misapplications of good intentions? Insisting that we don;t call african americans niggers is a misapplication of good intentions? To whom? Passionately advocating for social justice is misapplication of good intentions, to whom? Racists, bigots, and people who think that "their side" might lose because of the mud slung in their direction over either? Millennials aren't worried about either side, we're trending towards opting out entirely, not opting into the right.
