State of the Union, swirling down the tubes?
#21
RE: State of the Union, swirling down the tubes?
A case can be made for a fair progressive tax.

The wealthier have more at stake in the success of their nation, therefore they have a greater stake in maintaining it.
Any major reform of the tax system I would propose would be a type of elective tax system.

I know I'm going to fuck this up because every time I try to break a post down to separate quotes I do. Anyway, that is such a load of shit. The "poor" do not pay taxes in the US. Not the really poor. Their income is too low so these rich fucks ( sorry, I cannot be polite about this) keep raising sales taxes which the poor do pay just to make sure they get appropriately fucked over, too. And, that rich CEO that you seem to love pays Social Security Taxes on the first 2 two days of his income in a year while his secretary gets taxed on the full amount she earns. You can pretend that its "fair" all your like and, if you are a multi-millionaire then I apologize because you are doing what is right for your class. If not, you are deluding yourself.

Quote:I don't mind if you support progressive taxation for your own personal reasons, but please do not pretend it is in any way "equal" or "fair".

See above. Progressive taxation IS fair. You know, the "poor" don't need the services of the Securities and Exchange Commission. They also don't benefit too much from the war-profiteering that goes on in the guise of national "defense" (except they get to join the army and get their balls blown off so corporate interests can keep making money off the public tit.) A poor man, paying insurance on a 1980 Ford pays less than one of these corporate scumbags with his 2010 Mercedes. I suppose you'd like the insurance rates to be even in the interests of "fairness", too?

Quote:I'd also ask how you think shipping jobs overseas isn't creating jobs. Of course it is creating them...just because they aren't in your particular country doesn't mean they aren't being created. There are people in Bangladesh that are very thankful for the jobs they have.

Let's be crystal clear about something. I don't give a flying fuck about Bangla Desh and if you are going to try to persuade me that these money-grubbing corporate cocksuckers moved jobs over there out of a sense of "fairness" well, you'll have more luck persuading me that jesus got up out of his tomb and took a shit on Pilate's head before going to tell his followers "I'm Back, Guys." American politicians are supposed to be looking out for the jobs of Americans - not having their lips surgically attached to the asses of these greedy bastards who are in the process of ruining this country.

"Fairness" my ass.

You're welcome to come to Canada, I like it here. The Dark Hand has arrived from down south, and our country is on the fast track to being taken over by evil globalists. Only come to canada if you're willing to fight, because very soon comes the descision if we are part of the Gingham Kindom after all.
The state of the union. I feel bad for you h=guys at the beginning of this thread. This is a one party state masquerading as a two party state. It has been for 40 years. The only government you are allowed to have is the corporotocracy. You get the Wall Street party with red shirts, or blue shirts. It makes me chuckle that your scared of the republicans coming back. I am scared all the time. The republicans and the democrats follow the same bosses. Bush did a bank bailout, then we voted for the opposite government (they voted, I saw through Obama from day one) and he did a larger bank bailout. We had perpetual war, and we voted in the other party, and now we have more perpetual war. Don't worry about when the repub's get back, worry about the psychopaths running your country regardless of the window dressing in the white house. In fact Obama;s cabinet is very, very similar to Bush's, only more isreal-o-centric and slighty more members of the council on foreign relations.

The starte of the union. Listen to that Carlin joke about when you get elected. They take you into a smoky room and run an old 45 of the Kennedy assassination from an angle you've never seen it from before. When it's over they turn up the lights, and say "any questions?""Only what my policy is". That is a cute joke, but I fear it is all too true. This country was taken over be the military-industrial complex in the 60's, and has had fake presidents ever since. Some of them were actual actors for fucks sake.

America will not revolt, she is lost. 99% of her citizens know not what they are supposed to be standing for. they are fat and sick and stupid and ignorant and lied too and drugged and fooled and dragged around town square. Y'all keep your reality TV, have a wonderful fucking time.

Long story short, don't worry about the next press, worry about this one. Don't vote, take hostages.

Watched the news about a tea party candidate challenging a Republican candidate in a primary the state's Senator. She opposes porn.

The rich should be taxed much more. Did you know they had an around 90% tax rate on the highest income earners in the nation, this was in the 60's I think.

Reach these articles around the rich. Minimilist is right, the top 1% are earning way more now then ever.

Why do you think in the 50's,60's one parent could work get a new car every few years, own their own home all on one income, did they even have credit cards then?
With 2 incomes in a family nowadays, it is hard to even get by.
How and why did this all change?

It changed because capitalism is being corrupted now more than ever. If we socialize some things (here in the US where I live) some of theses problems can be resolved if executed correctly.

That's why when I hear some schmuck go on about welfare, or what little funding NASA gets or even pork projects, I don't take them seriously. That is mere pocket change. If anyone wants to bitch about where taxpayers money is going, then it needs to start here.

There definitely needs to be a big overhaul in America. People these days are so afraid to change anything, especially something as big as the government. But it can be done, and it needs to be done. We need more trust in this country, more compassion and understanding. We need to stop letting the government feed us bullshit issues, drugs, and lies. The important things like public health, economic stability, and US foreign relations need to be put back on track, and equal rights movements need to step up their game.

And that's where the revolution will come in. Big Grin
