Yes. I would do everything I could to give them whatever the fuck they wanted. In that situation, it's not about the Greater Good, it's about the life of a specific person I love.

Besides, I don't think there is any "greater good" behind "we don't negotiate with terrorists", it's just another made up reason by someone that don't really give a fuck.

For myself, I say don't negotiate for my ass. I've lived a good life and am useless as a slave. Plus, I'm betting that I could goad them into killing me just to shut me the fuck up.

For a loved one, I'd have to consider the circumstances. For my son, yep, I'd scrape up the dough ... and arm up, too. Because someone's got to pick up the money sometime, and they would have a lot of useful information, I imagine.

I wouldn't want anyone to pay for me, no. There is no incentive for me to be released, even if the money is paid. Whatever is going to happen to me is almost certainly going to happen either way. I wouldn't want my loved ones to bankrupt themselves on top of that, or to give money to these people.
