Let me give you a hint, compare the OT to the NT and you will see your question has no relevance.

The Bible gives clear criteria for demonstrating that your faith is true.  Simply walk outside and tell the nearest tree to uproot itself and to jump into the nearest body of water. If it does as you have commanded it to do then your faith is true.  Otherwise it's not.

Here's a clear example of a person who has no idea what the scriptures teach and one who desperately needs to study them.

There is indeed a difference in the OT and NT and that difference invalidates your question completely. The Jewish laws that Jesus rebuked the pharisees and priest about do not apply to Christians. Christ is the fulfillment of the prophesies and the law by living the perfect sinless life, dying on the cross and being raised from the grave.

But isn't torture of Jesus culmination of all inanities and violence of the Old Testament? I mean here you have a God that can't just forgive humans because in the past some guy ate from a wrong tree (who probably never even existed according to scientific observations) thereby condemning future generations of Jews to pogroms and persecution as 'Christ-killers'. We're talking about millions of people that have been killed because of NT.
If God wanted to forgive our sins, why not just forgive them and skip the sadomasochism?

I cheated. Though it's surprising that GC never replied to my post, a man so versed in theological studies would surely be more comfortable sharing his knowledge in Greek, the original language of christianity.
