I think I had some thread I called "Saved by your enemy" or something like that. It was about a neonazi xenophobe being saved after a car crash by refugees.
I don't know, but it's in my flesh and blood not being too direct in most instances. In the literal sense of the word, I reflect on what might bait people into viewing my thread.

Other than it being about something Trump related (i.e. 91.6% of recent threads), we don't know what the thread topic is.
I bolded what I want to touch upon:
Actually, from that thread title What Trump did now informs me precisely about what the thread is, which is something that Trump did.
If the title was more along the lines of Look who did something now..., that be more accurate as clickbaiting, because there is no subject matter to inform us of whom. At least with a whom, one knows about what the thread will be.
If you click the thread What Trump did now and you are disappointed by what he did, that is not the fault of the original poster. You knew full well it was "something" that Trump did, and that is all the clicker needs to know. The point of a title is to draw in the reader, not to give the entire story in the title, because then there would likely be no point in even clicking on the thread at all.

I see where you're coming from. Personally, I have the attention span of a squirrel. I need to know exactly what the topic is about or I'm scrolling right past it. I don't have the patience to find out.

If anything is to be considered click-baiting, I believe it would be posting youtube video links in the shoutbox without informing us about what the video is.

I could understand a rule against misleading titles, but I don't get the point to this rule at all. Are people being protected from their own urge to click on stuff?
This seems more like imposing some sort of quality control.

You are now just mocking our work right? Good luck mr Sensible. Read the fucking rule, it pertains to thread titles, or as I call them, thread tities.
So, I want to know your objection.

I actually like the rule, it saves my time and data when on my phone if I know what the damn thread is about. What is the point of an "enticing title" here anyway? There's no viewership competition going on here, you wouldn't go around bragging how many people read your threads, this is a discussion board and there will be more meaningful discussions when you don't annoy or irritate your discussion partners.

Technically, yes. Yet, these decisions are voted amongst the staff and he has no veto. Tibs can always nuke from orbit, the only way to be sure. Given the work this site maintenance and the appreciation shown by posts like yours, I would've just say fuck it and let you with 4 chan. he is a better man than I do.

I agree, it is quality control of a sort, and I don't see that as a bad thing. It's really not difficult to come up with a thread subject that accurately describes what the thread is about.

we've frequently seen opening lines in the first post that would make GREAT thread titties.
Galling when it happens, actually . . . .
