If anyone's interested in saving money, I can photocopy it, but don't tell no one, OK?

This seems a bit silly to me. Yes, the tours are "free", but the point is to leave donations in the collections baskets, if you can. Just like at mass. I'm sure if they were paid tours, you would be complaining that we charge people for it lol. Once you've decided to villainize an entire group of people, it becomes a case of "damned if you do and damned if you don't," and you'll always find things to complain about them because you've already made up your mind that they're no good.

(the "you" I use here is a general "you" and not aimed at anyone here specifically)

I also think it's very much out of place to insinuate that I'm a hypocrite for saying it's sad to see someone spending $100,000 on one cheeto, and that doing so is in any way comparable to how we are as Catholics. For reasons I've already explained.

I think that you are a really nice person. People at your level in the RCC always are. But when you say "We do more for charity than any other group in the world", you assume part of the "guilt" for what the people "above you" in the organization commit in the way of crime and inhumane behavior, such as discouraging the use of condoms in Africa. Just because they are "above" you in the pay structure (or in "religiosity", if you prefer) is not a reason to accept their heinous behavior, irrespective of your faith, and in fact, I'd expect that the laity should go in with flaming torches and pitchforks, and expurgate the miscreants, not make blandishments that wave aside that guilt. If you'd like (I'm sure you wouldn't) I can list a litany of some of the worst behavior in humankind that can be laid at the RCC's doorstep. I personally just took a walk away from the RCC. Once enough people do, that chancre on the backside of humanity will wither away and fall off.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
