Religion is the propaganda that creates and then legitimizes genocidal maniacs. I was going to use the crusades or the european colonial expansion as an example, but a more practical example for you would be to take a look at the bible belt of america. Through their ignorance and self delusion they support the wars of their government and the palestinian occupation, and that's all their religion asks of them; to be sheep.
A true christian- if he or she obeys the commandments to the word- will never depose a tyrant or defend themselves, they will turn the other cheek. The product of christianity is slavery, therefore it very much is the enemy Josh. Don't try and fool yourself.

The rest of chapter gives a detailed account of one part of that creation, the creation of the earth. It begins by saying that the earth was without form and void, and that it was in darkness. The planet itself already existed at this point and the six days tell how it was transformed and life was created on it. The first step was bringing light to it. Whatever barrier had been blocking the light from the sun was weakened enough so that light could reach the earth and on the fourth day it was completely removed so that the sun, moon, and stars became visible.
Well, well. It's the atheists who have actually read the bible. The evangelical mere has faith that truth lies within what ever the text says.

Actually, that was when he invented pot.
Coincidentally, it was the same day he made the platypus.

Quote:20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Genesis 1:1 says, Quote:In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 speaks of heavens, plural, while Exodus 20:11 speaks of heaven, singular. The third heaven is mentioned in 2 Corinthians 12:2,3 Quote:I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows—
The heaven God made during the six days is mentioned in verses 6 to 8: Quote:And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
The word "earth" has two meanings in English. It can mean the planet we live on or it can mean land. It seems to have both meanings in Hebrew as well. Verse 2 says Quote:The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Here it is obvously speaking of our planet. But verse 10 says, Quote:God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
This is what the verse you quoted from Exodus is referring to. You could paraphrase it to say the God created the air, the land, and the seas and everything in them. There is no reference here to the rest of the universe.
His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

You forgot porn. Granted the first porn magazine only featured one woman, but she was really hot.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925
Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan
