Atheists, what are the most convincing theist arguments you heard of?
RE: Atheists, what are the most convincing theist arguments you heard of?
On the other foot, "Two Citations" Craig has said many times that he won't debate Matt Dillahunty.

I don't get the deal with these debates and who's better at 'winning' anyway. I mean sure, they can be fun to watch, but when did truth become a matter of who can argue the best?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The 2nd best argument is when you talk about virtues that supposedly the Creator cannot take, because he doesn't have the limitations of creation. Thus how can he be the source of all virtues or the embodiment of all perfections?

This was a strong argument.

The best argument is simply the assertion that struggled earned value is greater then value that was not struggled for. This is true almost universally, so it seems paradoxical.

Those shook my faith once upon a time till I disbelieved. But they are easily refuted now.

Okay, from sandwich-freak to theist, here's my take:

1.) Get yourself a nice and decent woman who knows some ..... (fill in the blank).

2.) Make her do sandwiches and then, after you eat them, bow five times a day to honor her, because she did that for yah.

3.) And then...well...that's up to the both of you. Just don't grill on your balcone when vegetarians are around.

I really get tired of people of every religion, not just Muslims, but Christians and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists, missing one simple argument and always completely ignore it.

Take your "But they are easily refuted now" and ASK YOURSELF, not me, but yourself, would that same line work to convert you to another religion?

"But they are easily refuted now. Therefore the Christian God is the one real god" Does that line still make sense to you?

"But they are easily refuted now. Therefore the Jewish God Yahweh is the one real god" Does that still make sense to you?

"But they are easily refuted now. Therefore Buddha is the only real source for knowledge" Still make sense?

"But they are easily refuted now. Therefore the Hindu creator God Brahama is the one real god" Still make sense to you?

MK, every religion in the world argues both against "philosophy" and with "philosophy" and every religion in the world argues against science when it doesn't point to their club, and argues with science when they think it does.

Your attempt to "refute" does nothing for your position anymore than it does for anyone with a different religion.

Get in line, take a number.

Look at the so-called "debate" between Matt Dillahunty and Ray Comfort.

Comfort absolutely refused to debate, after agreeing to do so, and used the entire time to proselytise.

Matt stated he would never accept a debate with Comfort again.

Craig and other presups just keep repeating the same bullshit and are self satisfied that they're right.

I await a theist to bring a convincing argument to the table, however that is heavily unlikely........

I would warn, not the veterans on atheist pages, but those who are young or new to their new position, learn and read and don't assume. I adapted my "off" position long before I got online but at that time I didn't know shit as to why I held that position, it simply didn't make sense to believe. That is not enough.

In my early couple of years of being online actually reading other atheists, there were times when theists did stump me at first. It took me years to learn all the slick arguments theists try to pull. I always advise when you get stumped as an atheist, don't throw up your hands suddenly and go "they're right", take their argument and bounce it off other atheists. Long term you learn there really is nothing you can get stumped by.

I have yet to see a valid proof of evidence that any  god/God/gods/deity/super natural exists either. But I have seen over the years people try to re dress with different word salad the same arguments. Not even the religions of Asia or India or new age religions of the west impress me. But it is still an every day learning experience because everyso often I see new word salad that sounds slick until you peal the layers of the onion back.
