Atheism doesn't need to convince theists . The fact there is no substance to theism stands on it's own

90% of archeology directly contradicts any consistent reading of the bible

Yep.

The question in the OP is flawed from the get go.

So much wrong in only 11 words. OP must be going for some kind of record in willful ignorance.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

No thanks.

First of all, I am not a geologist. I'm a lowly network engineer.

They've been talked to death. The fact that you might be able to come up with some ad hoc rationalization you get off some apologetic site, in order to explain them away, is meaningless.

Not to mention, that even though the Bible gets some things right, does not negate the fact that it gets many things wrong. And that is the problem.

I actually did not think you would take the cowards way out; many of your conversations here are well mannered and insightful. I will not offer refutations or rationalization to what you have to offer. I am genuinely interested in hard archaeological inaccuracies you have to offer.

I decided to post some anyway.

Read the last couple of pages by other posters, and me.

Why so you can pretend (like everything else your wrong about) it doesn't exist or propose some loopy conspiracy to explain it away

True.  Theists can round up enough arguments to lend support for believing what they fervently wish to be true, but no where near enough to convince a neutral but reasonably informed individual.  Atheists as you say don't need a positive argument.  We're out until we're in and no good reason to come in has yet been discovered for we who don't start out wanting to believe in magical stuff.

Can you name one archaeological discovery that proves your god is real?

Quote:Try to knock down theism based on yoga if you can.

Yoga exists.  Your silly-assed god doesn't.

Although yoga looks pretty silly unless a really hot chick is doing it.

I once tried tiling a kitchen using interpretive dance. It went about as well as you'd expect.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Sure, if I saw Jesus resurrect I may think that he is some kind of god, but he still would not be worthy of my worshiping him, because in my eyes he would be an evil god who sends earthquakes, viruses of Malaria, dysentery and AIDS; making people (even more little babies) and other beings suffer just because of his whims that would not exist even if he had a shred of morality.
