He used to be very religious, and sometimes pressured me to do salat.
What made him leave islam was the verse about the creation of the universe and the big bang theory.
He thought that the big bang was mentioned in the Qur'an. But the book states that "The heavens and the earth have been split from each other, thus the universe was created."
But according to the big bang theory the skies and the earth did not exist before the big bang, even space and time were seperate.
One day, he was having a discussion with my parents about islam and how the universe was created he also mentioned that this a scientific error in the Qur'an. My parents being religious, told him that to be a true muslim u have to accept the Qur'an as it is. They got a little upset, from him and felt that he almost infideled.
Then he told me that I missed the religious debate with my parents.
I asked him what morality in Islam?
This was his response:

Quote:I asked : "What's your claim?"
He:"The Quran is wrong on the creation of the universe."
Me:"What are your arguments?"
He:what i mentioned above.
Me:"How did they respond?"
He:"They only responded to me, by saying that this is God's word and must never be questioned"
I asked him what morality in Islam?
This was his response:
Quote:Islam is a barbaric and unethical religion, stoning people for adultery, executing queer people and apostates, subjugating women, allowing Pedophilia? This is a hateful ideology.
And people should be free to do whatever they like as long as no harm is done.
Quote:What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.
