RE: AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-April 1 to May 1

I delayed my start until today because I went home this weekend and my grandma was like "ooh let me make you a huge friggin' breakfast because I'm a grandma" (to paraphrase) and my parents were like "yay let's get pizza" and I'm like "no fine ok whatever."
So. My starting weight's around 255; I'll get a specific weight this afternoon. I am trying to eat granola and fruit and yogurt and such in the morning and sandwiches and salads in the evening. Yay >:o
How will we know, when the morning comes, we are still human? - 2D
Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.

Well....because of GI issues, I have been unable to eat anything today. I was going to eat some scrambled eggs for the protein and wash it down with a can of V8 juice, but clearly, that's out of the question.
Drinking water to try and rid the toxins plaguing me this morning.

You can do it Tibs... I dare you to reach 2 miles by Easter.
Sorry, but it sounded like you were being sardonic about it, as if a mile is a weak goal. A minus seven-minute mile in a month is a lofty challenge for someone who doesn't do any distance running. I'm sure he can, but he's much better with speed than with endurance. Even when I was running several miles, several days a week, he was faster than me over short distances. I think the trick for him will be pacing. If he doesn't push like he's used to, he'll last longer. (That's what she said.) Thanks for the encouragement! I hope he goes faster and farther than he expected.
Ah... I too am more proficient in the fast, super short distance run. Damn sprinting genes!
But if I want to get to work and back home, I need to make it last. Also, it's not very good to arrive at work sweating like a pig, is it?
Anyway, this morning, I hopped on the bike and noticed something was strange with the first few turns of the pedals... back tire was flat
Start pumping!
Luckily, that was all it took - made the whole trip without losing pressure, it seems...
Minimum gear - 5
Didn't make it to 8th as often as normal...

Have you tried Ensures or a similar nutrition shake?

Actually, no. But they are quite pricey. Maybe I should keep a few on hand for when a flare-up like this happens.

They are quite pricey! However, I'm a fucking ninja with getting stuff cheap. Do you have CVS near you? So, I joined the Ensure mailing list, and I get email coupons from them all the time. Also, I buy them at CVS when I have a 25 or 30% off coupon on my CVS app and then combine that with "Extra Bucks" sales. For instance, I bought Tibby 6-6 packs a few days at 25% off the entire purchase. There was a deal to earn $5 xtra bucks for every three you purchased, so I got $10 back. I think I spent 20 and change, all told for six of them when they are usually 10+ dollars each.

I do have a CVS or two near me. I'm gonna have to look into this. Either that or talk you into visiting me just so we can go shopping and hang out

Well seeing as I don't run often at all, I thought starting off with a mile run 5 times a week would be an achievable goal. I'll see how it goes. If I feel like I can run further or faster in a few weeks, maybe I will.
Anyway, today's run was a success. I didn't have a good night's sleep so I didn't get up at 8am, but I did go out running at lunch. Screenshot from my running app included below, though I've blanked out the route.
My feet were aching by the end of it and I was out of breath, but I finished it. Didn't stop for the entire thing.

Congrats, Tibs! 10 minutes for 1 mile on the first go!! Awesome!
Aching feet may be due to poor shoe selection. Also look into the heel locking ones, that helps:
On my side, turns out I do have a puncture...
Not too big, since it was holding in air for the 15 minute ride, but enough to lose pressure after a few hours.
Good thing I brought my £1 pump along!
So the trip back went smooth and with plenty of air supply!
Speaking of air, wind can be a drag! (physics joke)
Minimum gear coming home: 4
Like in the morning, didn't use the 8th gear as much as normal
Still, all things considered, the end result was good:

Now fixing the bugger!
btw, tibs... I think I just sent you a "friend request" on RunKeeper. Feel free to do whatever you want with it.

This woman came home from her first day in an exercise class and plopped into a chair.
Husband: So, how’d it go?
Woman: Oh I went, hoped, jumped, stretched, pulled, and by the time I got those darn leotards on, the class was over.
For a while I wondered why I couldn’t seem to stick to a diet or exercise routine. Then it dawned on me that I wasn’t motivated. The thought of being size ten again just doesn’t appeal to me. But when I found I couldn’t button my size 14 jeans, I knew I had to do something. Now I can button them now, but I’m still a bad bad missus in them skin tight britches.
It’s actually money that keeps me from over eating. If I spent my money on “comfort foods”, I wouldn’t have anything to promote my books. In any issue of life, inertia has always been on my side. If I don’t buy it, I can’t eat it.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.
