What to do about North Korea?

Unilateral action will just draw China into the conflict.

Probably the best method. China's the only reason Kimmy gets away with what he does. But you know we have our own horrible allies that we help, like Isreal and Saudi Arabia. So it's not like we have the moral high ground here.

So long as the US remains stronger than china in the western pacific, the only thing thing that will convince china to rein in North Korea is to offer to give up American support for Taiwan or cede South China Sea to china. Since that is impossible even for trump, there can be no solution to the North Korea conundrum within the current balance of power between the US and china.

There are two ways for North Korean problem to be resolved, short of an unexpected implosion of North Korea from within:

1. America implodes, and china pushes the frontier of American influence out to roughly Hawaii, and therefore has no more need of North Korea.

2. China implodes and no longer has the ability to protect North Korea.

2. China implodes . . .

Considering their eco disaster currently underway, some kind of 'tipping' point might be in the offing, like a heat/humidity event coupled with a temperature inversion and China might then have some kind of mass suffocation/poisoning event that could claim 10, 25, 50(?) million people in a matter of a few days . . .

I agree completely. The PRC must be encouraged to rein in that little fucker even if that means turning a blind eye to their expansion into the North China Sea.

Okay. But how is that accomplished?

It seems to me kind of a non answer. How do you pressure China? What kind of pressure?

I honestly don't know.

The only real kind of pressure we have with China: Political and diplomatic.

Economic pressure won't do anything

Perhaps the Americans could work out a deal with China.
They let China invade NK and absorb it.
Part of the deal could be a peaceful renegotiation of the Spratly Islands.

If China took over that place the tourism would go through the roof.
The place is such a mystery compared to the rest of the world.

How do you think South Korea would react to that?
