With not a little bit of schadenfreude, I see that Ken Ham's fairy tale barge is not doing so hot.
One of the pitfalls for him in receiving tax rebates based on the attendance of his park is that he is open to FOIA requests about how much the state is paying him. If the park were full and people were travelling from all over to see it, then those rebates would be huge.
They are very much not huge.
The park was eligible for $18.5 million in rebates over 10 years, if Ham's ridiculous estimates were accurate. That's 1.85 million a year, on average. Keep in mind, the first year was supposed to be more than the average, with attendance levelling off after two years or so.
So, with the park open for about 9 months so far, we should see over $1.3 million in rebates. $3,700. Even if we just assume this is a monthly rebate, we're still looking at below $50k in rebates.
Hopefully American Atheists will buy it to make it their offices.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
