AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
Haha, so I've made this challenge sort of ongoing. I couldn't see any single standout winner, and lots of us would like to have participated more but couldn't. Therefore, we can come in, post monthly challenges and keep this bitch rolling.

A few notes:

This is a positive space, so it'd be cool if people didn't disparage each other's efforts.

This isn't a food porn thread. Healthy food is cool. It's not like it's against the rules to post bad for you food pics, but it makes you a douchebag.

If you have questions about your health/weight loss goals, talk to your doctor. No one here can tell you how many calories to cut, what level activity is healthy for you, etc. In fact, I encourage you to get tips from health professionals.

And we're off to the races.

I'll start, I'd like to keep losing weight, hopefully faster than I have been. (Fuck, I suck at counting calories. Absolute stress shite.)

This was the right call because April was a fustercluck at work and with life and such.

This month appears to be much more conducive to health and such

Yeah, I feel like that was the same for everyone, and a month isn't a long enough time to make a big change, so let's do this again.

I'm still on a healthier eating/weight loss kick.

I'd also like to do more yoga. I slumped last month. It was seriously fucking busy between birthdays and holidays.

I'll join. I've not been happy with some weight gain lately.
I started doing yoga twice a week at the Y, and I love it! I always feel great afterwards.

My whole family has tried very hard to cut out most processed foods and eat mostly healthy stuff, but goddamn that is easier said than done. Every veggie soup I make also seems to contain butter and milk. As to cutting back on meat and dairy, I have literally cried because I want a fired chicken leg so badly, lol. And cheese is my biggest weakness.

So, my goal is to help my husband lose the 50lbs he wants to lose by losing the 10 I want to lose. If I don't eat 2 cookies, he won't have the other 12 in the package to blame on me, lol. Now that we are in our 40's that shit just sticks like it never used to.

So, snacks are a huge downfall for us. I was thinking of buying a lot of popcorn and using that for evening snacks to reduce the absolute garbage we normally eat in the evening. What do you guys do for before bed hunger pangs?

I have no idea if this is horrible for me or not but I eat a spoonful of peanut butter when I'm craving sweets and it helps. Instead of eating a whole bag of family sized chips with chip dip or a bunch of chocolate I just get one spoon of peanut butter so I find it a fair trade and it satisfies whatever craving was there.

I've been keeping a stash of healthy but tasty treats (trail mix, popcorn, crackers) already portioned in tupperware or baggies. When I have a craving, I grab one of those. I may go over my calories, but at least I don't go to town on 500 calories worth of cake or something.

Hey! Can I get on board this one as well?
I'm consistently doing my daily commute using the bike's 6th gear... Sometimes, I manage the 7th.... There were 2 days that I made it with the 8th and last, but I think the wind was helping me.
My goal remains the same: to build up some strength in these legs so I can systematically ride the most of the way on the bike's maximum gear - can't go any faster than that!

As for snacks, I usually get a 750g pack of plain Cashews and munch some down.... or a pack of carrot batons, these are fresh and crunchy and very tasty.
But I also succumb to temptation - there's a store here that has a whole shelf dedicated to peanut-butter chocolates and, when I go there, I always leave with a few: either Lion, M&Ms, KitKat, or whatnot... or all of the above. Luckily, I then space them out during the week as I easily get fed up of chocolate. My last treat was Oreo Ice Cream, a pack of 4 cones... Still have 2 left.
I also get these neat crackers with poppy and sesame seeds (they have them on Waitrose and Tesco, so maybe you can also find them in the US).

For lunch I avoid potatoes, rice or pasta.... just meat/fish and salad... and dessert (the one damn thing that's consistently good in that cafeteria - one has to take advantage!)
Dinner doesn't get dessert, so it gets rice or pasta.... sometimes fries or chips/crisps.
Drinks... drinks.... I'm mostly a water guy. I'll go for a coke or some juice in a social setting... but otherwise, tap water will do fine. Actually.... besides those I mentioned, there isn't much else I do willingly drink.

I've no clue how this works, or what I am supposed to do here, but I am gonna join in too cause I need to lose a bit of weight as well, and my scale seems stuck in the same spot for about a month now.

I don't really eat healthy that much, cause I am crap at cooking, and due to work pressure I don't follow much of any schedule and grab whatever street-food/any-food available at hand. I am supposed to eat five times a day, I barely manage three, provided the work pressure is "normal", I do use an app to monitor the calories, but can't do much about the nutrition though, and I walk around 9km each day, so I hope it balances things. As for snack, I love fruits, and I almost always carry a few apples on me, and eat a lost of different fruits when at home. On every saturday, I grab myself something really unhealthy like pizza or something, this helps me keep my cravings at bay for the rest of the week. Oh, and I drink loads of water, around seven ltrs at least, throughout the day.

Sounds like my go-to cravings/hunger buster - a pinch of raisins with a pinch of walnuts.

I've just had a set back. For the last couple weeks I'd settled into the habit of getting a banana and chocolate scone with coffee every day. Um, no that isn't going to become the new normal. (None so far this week.) On top of that I made an enormous quantity of sangria for a party this past Sunday which was almost finished. So naturally I polished off the remaining rum and wine infused fruit salad, in violation of rule #1 of weight loss: don't drink your calories! So instead of the 182-3 pounds I had been I ballooned up to 187 pounds. Damn!

So I've been stricter this week. Think I'll go see how this is coming. *heads to the scales* 185 pounds. So fast and easy to put on, so slow coming back off.

Everyone can join in. The title is a bit of a misnomer. All you have to do is set a goal, as vague or as specific as you like, for your diet or fitness. Come in here to talk about your progress and encourage others. I've been mulling over having a prize, but it seems like less of a contest and more of a joint effort to think/act healthily. Maybe I can con the staff into giving people who've met their goals a special name color or sig? I don't know.

Anyway, best of luck. I'm going to the movies tonight. Let's see if I can resist popcorn.
