How has Trump impacted your life personally

With such a divided nation due to either supporting President Trump or hating him, I'm curious to hear stories of how the first 100+ days has impacted your life personally. Have you benefited or suffered financially, mentally, or physically? Any personal stories to share, such as people you know being deported, losing health insurance, making money in the stock market. Not really asking for how you perceive things to be happening, but what has happened to you personally. I realize most people here are against him, but how has it actually affected you whether it's increased your stress level or whatever.

Honestly just curious, and hope to not get into a pissing match. Just a place to share personal stories if you wish.

Personally for me, I've made money in my 401k with the 3 trillion dollars added to the stock market since the election, which was supposed to go down as some democrats said would happen. I've also had some strained relationships, and arguments with people that don't like that I voted for and still support Trump. I run into people that have serious trump derangement syndrome, but honestly most people are quite polite. Overall I'm enjoying it, but wish people would come together and get past the rhetoric and be able to discuss current events civilly. Not saying things are perfect, and I tend to be an asshole about things sometimes, which I'm trying to be better. Previously I didn't really care about people's feelings when discussing Trump because I viewed them as hysterical and didn't really take them seriously. However, I'm trying to do a better job of listening to people.

As an IT worker, I have definitively benefited under Trump, however, in my view, "the end cannot justify the means".  But, still, as Trump makes it more difficult for foreign nationals (say, those from India) to come to America to work IT jobs, US nationals, such as myself, will benefit.

True, but the question is, will it destroy all life on this World?  If it does that, then it won't be working very well afterwards.

He hasn't impacted me personally as of yet. But I don't know much about politics so who knows how things will come back to me in the long run.

This is part of the problem, too many people muddle through life either not paying attention or falling for idealistic utopias. 

I am worried for myself now especially now that my mom is gone. I have gone literally from the shallow end of the spread sheet to the deeper end. What she left me has to last. I am afraid what one major thing could do to what she left me. Under the GOP it could wipe me out in short order. The GOP has sold far too many in the middle class and rural poor that if we simply keep doing what the rich want long term everything will be ok.

It is absolutely astounding that people still vote for that party after the economic mess Bush Jr left us.

We need to start holding Wall Street to account and start putting the bad gamblers in jail and stop allowing fine print scams. It even pisses me off today that Wells Fargo only got slapped with a fine and nobody went to jail for the scam they pulled. It pisses me off that nobody at Duke Energy went to jail for dumping coal ash in unsafe fashion, and they keep getting away with that shit because the GOP has had a average long term majority of power and simply take what should be illegal and write laws making bat shit insane policies legal.

Global oil is the biggest threat to our planet and species. It should not take a Nader to get global business to provide instead of exploit.

Like I've said countless times, I used to consider myself leftist, but the democratic party has fallen apart, and I can't relate to anything they really represent. Not exactly a republican either however. I think the democratic party is having an identity crisis, and so is the RNC. The DNC used to be the party of working class, but now it morphed into the elitist coastal snobs the RNC used to be. The DNC and many Clinton supporters (that I know) look at the poor with disdain and contempt. They feel they are too stupid to make decisions so decisions have to be made for them. Throughout human history, people reject being told what to do and what to believe, and resent being called ignorant so that's a major reason I along with a lot of other people who left the left can't relate especially to what it's become. I don't see them turning it around very soon either unless they calm down a bit and start acting civil, otherwise it's a huge turn off.

But sure, Aegon, any policy which makes it harder for the owners of capital to bumfuck workers must by definition hate those workers, and be part of the elite they are looking to constrain. Only those who implement laws that hurt the people love the people, don't you know?

I really am sick of too many on the far right thinking "capitalism" is a form of government. 

I dunno if it's a form of government... I don't know much about corporations, business or politics.

But I do know that capitalism works and alternatives don't.

But certainly capitalism can be taken much too far.

I think me and you should do a political compass test. That will let you know where I stand on the line between capitalism and socialism.

What I object to isn't business, but a free for all market.  Even China is now realizing that decades of lack of regulation are causing huge pollution problems. So when you say "capitalism works", for whom? The Un Family could not pay an army if they were not producing something and didn't have global investments. Same with the Castro Family, Fidel's estimated personal wealth was $800,000,000.

Regulations are not harmful in and of themselves. When they are put in place to motivate business to provide and invent, like the government mandates on cars with seat belts and air bags helped improve cars. 

I am not anti private sector, just anti abuse, anti monopoly, pro funding of products that improve lives, not greed that simply is out to exploit.
