It's a shame that, of all the alternatives, capitalism still somehow manages to be the least dysfunctional economics system, at least when regulated properly.

But, it has made me ashamed for a sizeable chunk of my fellow Americans.

With recent Presidential elections, around half of the voting citizenry feels ashamed for the other half.  It was so for me when my fellow citizens went ga-ga over Obama and then were oblivious enough to support Clinton.

Actually....it has probably been that way for a couple of centuries or more...

You sure that some of that support for Hilary wasn't mainly because they figured out the big choice was between her and the orange cock that's sitting in the White House today?

As one who wasn't fooled the first time, I think the only appropriate guitar sound for this epic mess of a Presidency is a squall of pure white noise until the fucking amp explodes (dropping the metaphor, let's call it sustained citizen 'feedback').

How has Trump's Presidency affected me? I redefine 'normal' and 'low expectations' daily.

Ha Thump!
"I redefine 'normal' and 'low expectations' daily."  Exactly!

I keep telling myself that if Clinton had won, she would have faced constant Repugnican obstructionism.  She would not have been able to get anything done.  And after things swing vaguely left-wing for 8 years, the pendulum was bound to swing the other way.  So there could be a silver lining here.  All of America is now getting to watch immoral sociopathic narcissistic idiot monsters spectacularly fail at everything they attempt.  So unless these shitheads actually start WWIII there isn't a whole lot that the next administration won't be able to fix.

I am sure there were many reasons why people voted for Clinton, but certainly a continuance of Obama's Progressive agenda was a big one.  That is what he thought, too.

To be honest I have tuned out for the most part. Listening to stories about this man gives me headaches and makes me angry. It is the same thing when listening to him speak. It's insulting.

The ACA, no longer enforcing mandatory minimum sentences, Dodd-Frank, reversed Bush's policy on torture, expanded EPA and FDA power, supported same-sex marriage pretty early... there were a lot of things on his agenda that were definitely considered progressive relative to a lot of the other Democrats...

Relative to... sure. Relative to what's reasonable to the rest of the developed nations of the world, not so much. I suppose we're just using different yardsticks. Don't get me wrong, I like the man, I just don't think he was nearly as progressive as what he campaigned as.

He has given me an even lower opinion for the American voter than I previously had.
