Game of Thrones Season 7 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]
RE: Game of Thrones Season 7 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]
^ aye

Also, what is the dragon queen afraid cersei will invade. Take the land? She has only three of the kingdomns, at best. Her best and only defensive option is building scorpions galore at this point. Something she doesn't need to move about for. With the dothraki on land and the dragons in the air, all she really has is the sea. And if euron's ships come across the dragons without scorpions, well, we all remember slaver's bay.
I mean, I know there's been a lot of teleporting going about. But does she really think Cersei can get an entire army to strike them in the North as they are fighting from the wall, or behind it with her dragons? Her dragons are the fastest mode of transportation. She could go to the wall and burn the Ice King's entire army (given that he doesn't have a secret weapon) and then be back before any southern army is half-way to harrenhal.
And, I know the show enjoys forgetting this, but the North has Moat Cailin for christ's sake. With it, it's as nigh-on impregnable by landtroops as the Vale is.

RE: Game of Thrones Season 7 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]
I think the show is heading to a similar ending as the books.... but the path to get there is poorly written, fan service for the sake of dragging out the plot.

Bran knows much of what is happening, he can be keeping an eye on Jon and know about the dragons, then hop into one of them and bring it over the wall... no proud Dany required.

If Dany is finally understanding that the true danger lies in the North, why not take a dragon and check it out? Why all this administration-like business of needing "un-living" proof??

The clues are all there - dragon glass kills white-walkers, Valyrian steel shatters them to smithereens... I wonder what the effect of actual dragon fire will be?

But noooo....gotta go on a worldwide detour to fetch a poor undead sod to show the queens that this is a real danger... and then... what?! keep Cersei quiet while Dany goes North to do her thing in a few days?! Just go, Dany.... there are 3 dragons, one is enough to turn those Ice bastards into a water park.

Bah....
Can you tell I just want to see dragons vs white walkers?

Then we get Petyr Baelish messing with Arya... a dangerous game.... but he's bound to know what that "no one" meant... Also, why would he do that?
He wants Sansa... does he want Arya to get out of the way? And Bran? Good luck with that! [/sarcasm]

And what was all that with Cersei knowing everything? If she knows so much, she shouldn't need any convincing about taking care of the ice problems.

Also, Gendry! "thought you might still be rowing" LOL fanservice!!

[Image: row-row-row-your-boat-gendry-down-the-se...677499.png]

LOL, dude.... making weapons for Lannisters in King's Landing... while keeping a huge battle hammer with the Baratheon stag neatly on display!??
Fermented crab... LOL

Sam, my boy... you got fed up of cleaning shit? well.... you've done your part curing Ser Jorah and finding out about the mountain of dragonglass in Dragonstone. Time to get out of the Citadel and not become a Maester for Castle Black (like Jon asked you to)... instead... errr... travel by land with a woman and a child?... going North?... by the time he gets there, the war will be closed for business.

Well, Sandor Clegane, Thoros of Mir and Beric Dondarrion joining forces with Jon Snow, Tormund Giantsbane (hehe, he wanted Brienne to come, too), Gendry and Ser Jorah go North of the Wall... On to meet a white walker army head on... in the middle of a storm! LOL!... maybe that's the best weather they can get, now that the dead are on the march.... but the raven that Bran was using seems to show nice weather around that army...

And Jon got there... by sea, I suppose... Where is Euron?! Didn't Cersei know everything? pffft.

I have to agree with one of his core values. Why should it matter that Jon is by 'birthright' the king of Westeros. [...]

Because apparently Jon Snowflake wasn't special enough yet. He's a master swordsman, he has a giant wolf for a pet, he has a ultra-rare Valyrian steel sword, he invented cunnilingus, he's one of the two people - that we know of - who killed a White Walker, he can come back from the dead, he can ride dragons, he's the Lord Commander of the Watch, the savior and de facto leader of Wildlings, the King in the North, the rightful heir to the throne of Westeros, he's Azor Ahai, the Prince That Was Promised, the Stallion Who Mounts The World, and who knows what else. He's Batman, Jesus and Bruce Lee rolled into one... Not to mention - he's incredibly handsome for someone with so much inbreeding in his family history.

This is the problem with American fiction - writers don't know when to stop piling on the "awesome factor", which often leads to overpowered, unrelatable and boring characters. A problem this show often has with at least a few of its main characters...

And by the way - how does marriage annulment work in Westeros? Raegar had two children with Elia Martell, didn't he? So, basically - some coprophiliac maester in Dorne secretly "undid" their marriage - that had clearly been consumated - making their children illegitimate? I guess marriage - even a royal one - is a fairly casual institution in that universe, is it? I wonder if Elia's kids knew they were dying at the hands of the Mountain as bastards...

Yeah, Jon Snow's daddy - a real stand-up guy, wasn't he... But the important thing is, that he married the "love of his life" - hopefully - before squirting Jon the Super-Messiah into her belly. And that's what counts... Let's all marvel at this beautiful, touching love-story. Rolleyes

Come to think of it, that entire plan is stupid. 6(?) of them going head first into the army of the dead with the Night King to try and kidnap one of the dead, THAT THE NIGHT KING CONTROLS? We know the Night King can turn wights "on" and "off" so to speak, since he took over the body of those two Night's Watch men a few seasons ago but only rose them up when they got to Castle Black (their eyes were blue the entire time.) What if he just has the wight play dead? Are a pair of blue eyes enough to convince Cersei? But enough about that, let's go back to the stupidity of 6 of them trying to steal themselves a wight lmao.

They never went back to Winterfell, where Ghost is.  They sailed right up from Dragonstone, going to Winterfell would be a massive detour.  And the plan seems like it will fail, with a few or more of the 7 dying - but jorah would at least be able to attest to what he sees...unless he's the one that dies.

I don't think it was.

I am disappointed that they are moving pieces around to effect plot points. It all seems very ad hoc. This fucking mission to nab a whitewalker was beyond absurd.

I am also disappointed in how they've completely betrayed Arya's character with this shit with Sansa.

Definitely not ever.

Hardhome holds that spot for me. And that was even a huge departure from the books.

This season is riddled with flaws. Which seems to me to be because of two reasons. One, they don't have the source material to base the show on. Yes, they know the end of the story, but it's still taking away a huge pilar to build on. And second, making it 7 episodes instead of 10. Things are rushed. And that makes for nice, flashy storytelling... Like fast food. It's what you crave. It's what you want. And it leaves you satisfied... Until twenty minutes later you realize just what you've gorged. Game of thrones/ASOIAF took it's time, people made realistic choices, the story kept you waiting, hungring, fearing but excited for what's to come. But the last season already and this one too... Is blunt, numb and simplistic in comparison to the genius of the first seasons.

Now, that being said. It's still game of thrones. And I'm still invested. And it's still way better than most things on the air these days. It's still a great show and I still look forward to it each week.
But there is a drop in quality, I believe. My opinion, of course.

I haven't seen Daenerys Targaryen nude yet this season. Did I miss it?

btw i almost missed episode 6 because the uploader titled it "Khaleesi and her Dragons" instead of GoT. If he's upset about seeing this super-hot, super-strong bitch from hell, then he's gotta be gay. I just can't see anyone not absolutely loving this character!

Yeah, it's moving way too fast. I joked with Tibs that the journey to the north, dragon death/ice dragon, relationship building and Sansa plotting shit would have taken at least a season at the beginning of the show. It's so rushed you don't get a chance to feel anything. However, they still find time to drag out the Dany/Jon shit. Whatthefuckever.

Can I say it? I don't remember seeing any redshirts coming out of the gate and walking with the dudes beyond the wall... I thought the guys pulling the sled were random members of the team.

So the big bad ice lords have a weapon specially designed to kill dragons... interesting...
If the dragons aren't going to be the ones taking them out... then only Valyrian Steel can do it.... ooohhh.... the scorpion!
