Right? Why the fuck bring that up when you can just point out the rampant, systemic child abuse? I'm half-kidding because I like you, but there really is a serious amount of priests raping kids in your religion.

And it seems like a good idea to keep people of certain beliefs out of your country. If this guy's parents hadn't been aloowed in, those kids might be alive. I get that back then, it was probably thought that muslims would assimilate and adopt western values, but we're seeing that all too often that's not the case.

Letting your children die so as not to "buy into fear" doesn't seem like good policy to me.
Quote:So when the west responds to violence in the east because kids are killed in the west, their children never end up dead as a result of our responses?
Reducing immigration isn't killing people in another country.

And yet you're against a call to block people from dangerous religions from entering the country. Makes no sense.

Do you lock your door to keep out street gangs and other dangers, or invite them in to kill you?

I like CL too, and yes the Vatican has had a horrible history of hiding child molesters. But there are pedophiles worldwide too.
Religion in antiquity even in prior polytheism treated girls/women more like property, and even today most religions worldwide are still patriarchal with gender expectations. The idea of child brides isn't unique to Islam.
China's female population as well as India's has a harder time reporting rape because of family attitudes of victim shaming.
CL does really need to be introspective too when it comes to religion covering up child abuse.
To CL we don't bring up the history of Catholics or any sect of Christianity to shame anyone, but to say that focusing on solely on Islam is a mistake.
The only thing that separates the west and the east is time and secular law. If you want to rightfully point at others then you also have to look within. There is no "either or" or "us vs them" when it comes to protecting any child of any label.
Parts of Asia have a huge problem with child exploitation too. But sex trafficking in America exists too CL as well as molesters having positions of power in a Church.

I don't buy it. A suicide bombing that kills dozens of completely innocent people in a public place? Yeah. At least 90% chance radical islamists are behind it. And that's being generous.
I my defense (thou I was wrong)
Would I believe uber nationalists would copy Islamic states tactics to
1. Sow anti immigrant hatred
2. Because Islamic state has stolen there tactics from other groups
3. Because they have lost by legitimate means and now seek to win by violence

Why would I talk about China if the conversation is about Catholicism?

For the same reason you'd bring up Catholic pedophiles in a discussion of Islamic terrorism, I suppose.

It's lucky no one else over heard him say that because it could have been a lot worse.
I'm really friendly with that person but hearing him say that was just as bad as hearing someone say some kids deserved to get raped.
See, you obviously have a lot more control than I have.
It would have taken me a lot of personal strength to stop me from hitting someone who said that.

Forget the crusades (thou there anything but irrelevant as even 100 years ago western leaders were referring to it when dividing up the middle east between the European powers). How about all the ways in the last 100 years we have helped mess up that region of the world .And the kinds of people we have been willing to both empower and support. The oil tycoons have caused more blood shed in that region then all the Knights Templar combined

I wonder if the person/people responsible feel proud to kill children?
