To be with God.

1 Samuel 6:19 And he [god] smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

Yeah, good luck spending any time with that psycho.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Those men were smitten for what they did, but Jesus said just thinking about doing something is the same as doing it. I can't imagine anybody lasting a day in Heaven. Imagine spending eternity trying not to think.

This is why I expect people in heaven are basically lobotomized. You're only allowed to think what he wants you to think. does that really sound like a good time? I guess you wouldn't know otherwise, after you've been rewired.

Technically all of christianity is a death cult, but I guess some groups take it farther than others.

If hell is such a terrible place and heaven is so wonderful.. then why did Satan and a third of the angels choose to rebel against God?

I mean you can't just say "Well, because they're evil" I mean seems kind of silly that God would just create a bunch of 'evil angels'. Literally a third of them!

They knew the choices, and ultimately they chose hell over heaven. Makes you wonder if hell might not be such a bad place, and heaven might be pretty terrible.

What I've never understood is the belief that gawd is finally going to get it right. According to the myths, it created the angels and, them free-will and they rebelled. It created man, gave them free will and they rebelled, but even worse. Now, we're expected to believe that we're all gonna go to heaven, gawd will let us keep free will and everything will be perfect forever.

Of course, some of them attempt to get around this by claiming gawd will "remove our will to sin." That kills "free will."

According to the biblical fairy tale no one goes to heaven. On Judgment Day some people might get a ticket to get into the 1,500 mile sided bejeweled golden cube called New Jerusalem. But you can onle get in if you can pass through one of the twelve gates that are reserved for members of the twelve tribes of Israel. It's on a waterless planet that doesn't have any darkness. And there are no marriages there so no one has any need for a gender.

Mormons and muslims have better afterlifes, according to their fairy tales.
