I dislike the term cultural appropriation as a pejorative. World history is one great big cultural appropriation. I do not care if people of African ancestry straighten their hair or cook Mexican. I do not care if white men get afros and play jazz. I don't care if rich people play folk music, or poor people play classical. Everyone gets to science. Everyone gets to write poetry and novels in any style. Everyone gets to alter their look. Everyone gets to join any profession. Gringos can cook Mexican and Mexicans can cook French. Germans can paint Japanese.
So no, I don't object to this makeup.
What I do sometimes object to to is donning another culture to ridicule it. When do I object? Depends on whether I personally think the culture ridiculed is objectionable. I'm happy to see Nazis ridiculed. I don't like to see old time black-face.
As a matter of free speach it's all good whether I like it or not.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

As others have said it all comes down to intent. How can it be racist if someone finds the racial features beautiful and wants to try them on for a bit? If the intent is to ridicule then of course it's racist but I get no hint of that from what you've posted.
I also don't get why anyone would disparage cultural appropriation. This is the main method by which humans share and learn from one another. If some white guy falls in love with rap, why is that any worse than a black person taking up heavy rock? Was Jimi Hendrix bad? I think not.
If god was real he wouldn't need middle men to explain his wants or do his bidding.

It sort of creeps me out a little bit. But, feel like as a white boy who was by chance raised in heavily white-leaning areas, I shouldn't talk about this, but regardless, it's an interesting thread. Sorry if my cold is causing me to ramble incoherently, but, it is what it is.
It does creep me out, and maybe that has more to do with sexual attraction than anything. I've always been 99% physically attracted to white females. Particularly WASPy types. But, by the same token, I don't cheer on white people who make it big in society.
I just find it different than some reggaebro (is that a word? It is now! I've seen them!) in is dreadlocks driving a Land Rover with a Sacred Heart University Rowing sticker on the back. I think I'd be creeped if said reggaebro did the skin pigmentation thing, too. That aspect of it just goes a step beyond a tan. And it just weirds me out.
But if he were in a cover band of UB40 or TV on the Radio, hey, cool. I like TVOTR.

IKR, girls pretty..maybe her waspish facial features combined with swarthier skin is just a killer combo? I had a thing for argentinians as a kid..... who doesn't like a deep tan?
