Oh My, This Won't Work Out Well

LOL, the equation is not between phones, tablets, etc and healthcare - for a great many people the choice is between healthcare and food, housing and the like.

I always turn my phone off  at meetings, for some reason the homeless folks there need to be connected even during meetings.

ROFLOL

we even had a 'thing' at a business meeting for 12 Steppers going round and round about just asking (not requiring!) folks at the meetings to not play games on their phones

that wasn't approved, and yes, there were folks at the business meeting playing games on their phones . . .

Worship

I luv 12 Steppers . . .

I don't sign court cards anymore either.  Yeah, I'm getting to be a butt.     Cranky

That is the vile crap the right always pull, and they've done it with food stamps too.

FOX especially.

If you buy a steak with food stamps they bitch, buy a bag of potato chips still doesn't matter, they still bitch.

They simply look down on people with less and don't want to admit it.

I could give a shit less what a poor person owns, some do have nicer things than I do, but that doesn't make them rich.

I can prove my assertion.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime.

It rated DEAD LAST in the recent comprehensive Consumer Reports ratings of cell phones. All other cell phones are better.

So why do I have one ?

It was FREE*. Additionally, the phone needs no expensive insurance as if it is lost or damaged, you can get another one for the same deal. It would seem to be an obvious choice for folks like me who've been burned on shitacular pricey phones in the past and don't want to spend a bunch on a phone, but still need one that can take pics and vids, send texts, and can even access websites like IMDB.

* actually, after the rebate, I made $1.

I bought my last phone via rolling its cost into my monthly bill.

So its sticker price had the appearance of "free".

What do I win? Getting $400 back won't seriously affect my finances. For those who are affected much by a mere 400 bucks, I don't begrudge their phone choice. I can easily buy any consumer technology on a whim - I cannot say the same for others, nor do I have to judge them.

They'll still view/watch/click on advertisements. And some of them will use that "expensive" phone to do more. Seems fine to me.

Not only that, you have no idea where people get these sorts of things.

My father actually has 3 homeless people on his family plan. He gave them phones, and pays for their service. Now that my husband and I will be dropping off the plan next month, he plans to add 2 more homeless people to his plan. He will give them our old phones, which are still nice enough.
He says it makes the whole community safer when homeless people have access to information and also emergency services.

I also get tired of people judging the poor. What, they arent allowed to own hand me down or even new technology?

My big gripe is they don't shut the damn things off during meetings.

And the snowflakes running the show these days won't even ask them to shut them off (let alone REQUIRE them) during the fucking meetings.

I think paying attention is the point of being there. Texting and playing candy crush or angry birds isn't getting anybody sober, IMO. If it was the candy crush people would be opening rehab centers.
