If you look at polytheistic cultures, both men and women were respected equally within the culture.

Only the monotheistic culture placed sole importance on the male while making the woman irrelevant.

I hate the word "culture". I agree the word exists, but it does not change our species going back far enough make all 7 billion of us related, and we also existed long before any written religions or set cities.

The truth is in all of antiquity our species had no concept that it took both female and male genes. Males back then, even in polytheism falsely thought only their sperm was making the  new life and the women was just a carrier. Patriarchal societies existed even in Hinduism and Buddhism. And while polytheism of Hinduism, and say the Greeks and Roman deities, goddesses exist, just like the Ancient Egyptians the top figure is depicted as male.

Even today there is no female Pope or female Dali Lama.

Sexism exists in all nations to greater or lesser degrees worldwide. Every one of the world's major religions worldwide stems from a very patriarchal male dominated antiquity. Even today most of the world's political/religious leaders are male.

Name me one polytheistic religion where a women is equal? I have never found one. I have found that polytheism has female deities, but I cannot name one that has a top creator God that is female. Nor are the amount of female deities in polytheism equal to the higher volume of male deities. Females in polytheism are still represented as a minority in terms of numbers.

I would not confuse mythological relationships depicted in polytheism as being the same as an equal number of male figures and female figures in totality as being a 50/50 split. All you are arguing is interactions in individual stories, but that does not address equal volume in representation in that mythology.

Because the bible doesn't assign god a gender i hear god is a guy a lot but there is no conclusive proof in the book(s).

He has to be a male to be able to fuck his own mother to give himself birth.  Any non-male god would not need to be so supernaturally incestious.

Polytheistic cultures like the Hindu?   The classical Greeks with their numerous powerful and vindictive female deities hardly respects mortal woman as anything more than the dirt in which a man can plant his seed and have something useful come out of it.

The bible does assign a gender to God

God the FATHER
God the SON

Those would be males.

RE: A interesting question
Take me a while to find the reference, but somewhere I've encountered a statement from, IIRC, Brigham Young where he explicitly notes the Holy Spirit is NOT female. Considering the changeable and flexible and oft revised Mormon dogma, I suppose at least that occasion Brigham decided to get ahead of something before it turned into another 'thing' and Lord knows, the Mormons have certainly self-inflicted countless problems upon themselves.

Or maybe, perhaps, there is a still undiscovered item in the vast Mormon archives that proves at one time God revealed the Holy Spirit was female and then later, He changed His mind about that and sent ANOTHER correction to a prior revelation and turned the Holy Spirit into a male figure? With their congenital compulsion to change doctrine wily nilly, that can't be ruled out.

And also considering their profound confusion about everything else regarding the trinity, why not a female Holy Spirit, at least temporarily ??

I also note I've never seen a case of a Mormon being excommunicated on a matter of doctrine, and then that doctrine was subsequently 'corrected' or 'revised' or 'God changed His mind again' and then that previously excommunicated Mormon (who was correct all along) is then un-excommunicated. Doesn't seen to have ever happened for some reason . . . .

The Abrahamic

.
If one is referring to the primitive Christian god named Yahweh, then; "God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)

The simple and logical syllogism is since mankind is both male and female, and Yahweh created both in his image, then Yahweh is a Hermaphrodite.

Like I keep stating, Christianity is the best Vaudeville Act known to mankind!
