Are people actually serious when they say they think nominating a comedian is a good idea?

I think it's a great idea. Comedians, like politicians, deal with the absurd every day. But comedians are able to see it for what it is.

Put it this way: I'd much rather vote for a comedian than a lawyer.

Tom Perez. He is the Dem's best hope for clarifying their mission statement and creating a progressive identity. Smart, strong on civil rights, pro-labor, has ruled against the police in shootings of blacks, strong on students rights. Current Chairman of DNC charged with doing the job of creating a better image of their party, he is probably the best representative of that image too.

I've always liked Bill Richardson, but he's a few years older than I'd like to see for a candidate in 2020 and his ties to the Clintons are probably too toxic for him to get any traction if he did run. It's a shame because his qualifications for the job are stellar.

I'd also like to take Jerry Brown as he is today and somehow stuff him into a younger Jerry Brown's body. Alas.

A Warren/Booker ticket would be strong and one I'd gladly support. I only wish there were more strong liberals from rust belt or western states who could hold their own, if only to counter the GOP narrative that liberalism is a coastal phenomenon that is out of touch with "ordinary" Americans.

Katy Perry 2020.

That's fucking right. She has more followers on twitter than anyone else. She's charismatic enough. People know who she is. And she fits the 'not a politician' mold that anti-establishment types like so much. Oh and she can't do a worse job than Donald Trump.

Kyrie Irving, we've already tried a reality TV has-been.....NBA allstars are a step in the same direction. Sure, he's a dirty furriner, but that wasn't a problem for putin, so? Plus, he went to Duke hails from Jersey and is an -actual- winner, that's bound to get some alt right support by association. I'm sure he can be declared to be honorarily white to eliminate any remaining concerns.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I mean, I'll admit, it would be hilarious and he'd be better than Trump, but I'd rather see someone more qualified.

He IS more qualified than the WLB.

Very funny. But outside of Weiner I'd take any of the other three over any GOP idiot.

Espiecially Holder or Franken.

Cobert is extremely intelligent and way more qualified. As if the Drumpfster fire hasn't already been proving his ineptness since day one.

Pardon my paranoia, but I don't think the internal party mechanisms the Dems have to protect themselves from the likes of a Weiner candidacy for president are sufficiently robust to totally preclude that possibility.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Do you mean the same way that internal republicunt party mechanisms were sufficient to preclude the possibility of a WLB candidacy.
