Texting and Driving

RE: Texting and Driving
I have no idea how fast I've driven. I had a souped up Celica which IIRC had a speedo that topped out at 120. Buried it.

Had a Yamaha 550 that had a speedo that only went to 85, but it would do that with acceleration left in fourth and two gears to go. I figure I got it up to 120-130mph. That kind of speed on a bike is crazy fast.

Texting while driving?... there's a stupid concept.
Why use text, when voice is so much easier and faster?... considering the situation you're in...
Also, I don't know about those fancy iPhones you guys have, but my android has had speakerphone since 2010. If I ever have to answer while driving, I slow down, answer, hit the speaker button and then go on driving normally, since the phone can be on my lap.

Got my cow vulcan up to around 110mph. Shut it down when the front wheel started leaving the pavement. That was back when I still believed I was invincible.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

What is this 100+ mph you guys speak of?!
Don't cars go back in time when they reach 88mph?

You could never get me to drive that fast. I've gone just a bit over 80 and that was more than enough for me.

I guess that's why I haven't done any of that time travel stuff pocaracas mentioned...
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Us non cell people are allowed the ultimate in self righteous indignation. Why doesn't KIA have a blow horn option???

Just curious, do you text/cell and drive, even if considered illegal where you live?

Yea it is really stupid to do that while driving. But what does also concern me is how more and more vehicles have computer dashboard screens and I don't see how that cant be just as much a distraction. I think we are also going to see a rise in accidents because of those too.

I never answer my phone while driving. I always pull over and stop.

I don't often bring my phone when I leave the house (I'm not so self-important that I feel people need to reach me in every imaginable circumstance). On those occasions when I do, I don't use it while driving.

I have swype on my phone so I can swype what I want to say without looking at my phone. Yes I get typos but I either ignore it or wait till I get to a red light to fix it. I also text in stop and go traffic where I will text while stopped then hold my phone while I inch forward then stop moving and start texting again. I will also text via talk to text. I don't text in any form on streets I don't know well, any street that has a curve, or where I can't see ahead of me. Driving the hour to my mom's on a dead straight road with no other cars around I will text but again I'm holding the phone to where my eyes keep scanning the sides of the road for deer. The only times I've ever been in an 'accident' were both when I was at a complete stop waiting for the person in front of me to go (phone in the center console not being touched) and the person behind me slammed into me. The first time it just put a small dent in my bumper the second folded my tailgate in half and destroyed the front end of the Dodge Challenger. I say 'accident' like that cause I don't know if it is considered an accident if you aren't even moving. My only other driving vice is speeding but since I am very stubborn on the two second rule I never put myself close enough to the car in front of me to not be able to stop in time.

Okay but wouldn't it be smarter and safer to just not text at all while driving.

Not to mention that I think stop and go traffic is a terrible time to divert your attention from the road. One minute you're speeding the next you need to slam the breaks.

My phone goes everywhere with me. The fate of the Free World relies upon it.

That, and I can surf the web while waiting at the clinic or whatnot.

Oh yeah, I'm on my phone CONSTANTLY - literally the only exception is when I'm driving.
