I've had a few experiences with homophobes who were either happy to be blown or unhappy not to be blown (ie offended when I said I didn't fancy them and wouldn't go there)... so I know there's something in it... it's just I'm reluctant to generalise it to every single case.

Oh it's definitely not a sure thing. The prevalence does raise an eyebrow though...

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

OFC, there's also the anxiety based arousal theory of why homophobes get a woody for gay pron. That being anxious, in and of itself, causes arousal in them. Like a coondog with his little pecker poking out everytime he gets nervous about gunfire (though, maybe, coondogs are just gun nuts whereas homophobes secretly want penis).

I don't know which is worse, lol. Perhaps some of our forum homophobes can tell us which conclusion they would prefer?

It would be interesting if I could talk to you as myself from 10 years ago. I grew up in a far-right Christian family and I acted just as homophobic as the rest of them. I was a bisexual in denial the whole time. My real feelings just made my hatred worse because I was afraid. I probably wouldn't have reacted to strongly if I had just been heterosexual.

Unfortunately our species in it's entire history worldwide, will always produce con artists, whom may be honestly deluded themselves, or flat out lying and don't care.

People swallow his crap for the same reason others fall for a ponzy scheme. It doesn't make every single person who false for it stupid.

I'd say much of this falling for it stems from our evolutionary grouping. We are a social species so we seek cooperation, and if an idea is popular in that given society humans can have a tendency to assume trust and suspend questioning.

Just like a ponzy scheme, it preys on the idea of the desire of stability and and religion provides grouping too.

But as far as Ken himself, I don't feel sorry for him one bit, and for him to falsely claim to be the victim, is sick considering the countless people who lost money in that investment that could have kept it to pay their own bills.

Not just with him, but America even with Wall Street, needs to get back to putting these CEOs in prison for setting up exploitation models and making bad market bets. It also pisses me off that nobody went to prison at Wells Fargo. Same with Duke Energy dumping coal ash in NC rivers.
