Nuff said
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

A religious organization that is inclined to do so can be effective in charity work.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Yeah, I have issues.

Some of them do.

Ben Davis. Did you bend Avis behind the alter?
I trust you did the Christian thing and kept her virginity in place.

I like the idea of this thread; however, I'm not sure why we cannot equivalently (IMO) ask people to simply say something nice about others.  With that said, in the spirit and goodwill of this thread, I met a group of awesome people at a Christian University in Abilene Texas who were interested in bridge-building and conflict resolution (most of them are Christian)  .  In particular, during my two residency sessions, I enjoyed the quiet evenings where a group of us would gather in the living room of the apartment (four of us boarded in a student housing apartment for about 5 days) and just chat, exchange ideas, or enjoy each other's company; the evening Walmart runs and social/dinner outings are also memories that I cherish. I also valued the professors' passionate instruction about mediation and the positive impact that it can have in multiple contexts.  Specifically, their feedback about how to effectively mediate conflicts by developing the discipline to let the parties talk and knowing when/how to ask the right questions that can help nudge the parties out of impasse, was highly informative and motivating.

With that said, the particular views held by the people I connected with certainly helped me understand a different perspective of the world, but in the end, I think this experience of mine was special and unique because these people were decent and made the most out of an opportunity to learn something new and challenge their way of thinking.  IMO, some of them have taken the art of bridge-building to such a high, masterful level, which is, IMO,  a special and unique achievement that I greatly appreciate.

Would you say they were motivated by their religious beliefs or by their intrinsically humanistic beliefs to be good sports about it? I'm always curious whether people will be honest about where that value emerges from. Especially since you can point out passages in their newsletter that say you ought to be brutally murdered by them if you don't believe what they believe.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

---

There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.

Pooley, I appreciate the nice sentiment but I already tried it with my "polite thread" years ago.
Even Tibs told me to "fuck off"! or something to that effect! Lol!

Luckily, I received inspiration from CL and replied with: " I appreciate your response".

best ass munch ever was a nice catholic man

I could literal taste the guilt

or at least that's what I think it was
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
