Pretty of liquids .Don't tire yourself . If your feverish avoid eating anything heavy . If you aren't still keep you diet light(tomato soup) . Try not to mix medicines as it limits there effectiveness . Honey awesome for sore throats get the thickest  stuff you can find clings to your throat better then cough medicine. Tea tree oils awesome for stuffed noses it will burn like hell but it will clear you out. Vitamin C lots of it.

I've seen this going around here also. Last one I kissed said he went to the doc and got a flu dx, but with no test. Given prophylactic doxycycline and sent home.

Also, I think the expired store brand cough and cold syrup that was a couple years past it's sell by date might have been part of the problem. I found an unopened bottle of real Nyquil, and doing better with it.

Cough is less severe today, and productive, so clearing out dangerous buildup.
