Michigan closed down its capitol in Lansing on Thursday and canceled its legislative session rather than face the possibility of an armed protest and death threats against Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
...and if the governor calls out the National Guard, Trump can put them under Federal Control.
We are well and truly fucked.
That’s absolutely terrifying - government can’t function because of armed angry mobs. You may indeed be fucked.

What's worse is there is really nothing the governor can do about it.
If she calls out the National Guard to protect the statehouse, or for any other reason, Trump can put them under his control.
He's not smart enough to have figured that out in advance but someone who has his ear is smart enough and devious enough.

He’s there, mate. He’s clearly unhappy in his work, but his Brobdingnagian ego won’t let him admit it.

So much for the Trump's pro-army stance
Quote:Trump to pull National Guard off COVID-19 duties one day before their benefits would kick in
The official also acknowledged during the call that the June 24 deadline means that thousands of members who first deployed in late March will find themselves with only 89 days of duty credit, one short of the 90-day threshold for qualifying for early retirement and education benefits under the Post-9/11 GI bill.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
