As I pointed out it's not the kill count or monetary cost that makes an insurrection it's the goals of the group. The capital insurrection made it clear they had bought " The Big Lie" and were willing to try to override an election based on it with an endorsement of the President and implicit endorsement by the Republican party who pushed the lie.

It isn’t so much that she was a bad choice, she was the only choice. After Biden decided not to run, who were they left with but Clinton? Sanders? Pete Buttigieg? NO ONE but Clinton had the remotest chance of beating anyone the Republicans fielded.

Be fair - she managed to turn what otherwise would have been a Trump landslide into a squeaker.

Not even remotely true.  There were plenty of well qualified Democrats who did not run, for whatever reasons I'm not certain; they just didn't have the national attention of a Hillary or Bernie.  Mario Cuomo would have been a very good contender.  Steve Beshear was Gov of Kentucky at the time and would potentially have brought in some Southern votes.  That's just two; there were more.

I don't know by what criteria you claim Hillary was a worse politician/leader than Bill.  I don't even see how you could make that comparison given that they had such different career paths.  If I'm grading them on complete life experience then Bill has several real sex scandals that would need accounting for that drag down his score.  I don't believe getting a blowjob in the oval office should have resulted in impeachment but it certainly calls his judgement and character into question.

For what it's worth, I'm not at all surprised that the mob took to the Capitol on 1/6, given the claims from Trump & Co. that the election was rigged. These people apparently grew to worship him and took every word out of his mouth as absolute truth. I actually know a couple of co-workers who attended a stop-the-steal rally at the city hall in their hometown on 1/6 and they invited me. You can imagine the shock on their face when I told them Biden won and they were buying a lie. These people are legitimately brainwashed. So yeah, when they've drunk the kool-aid and Trump basically tells them to march to the capitol and be "strong" and Mo Brooks tells them to "kick some ass", I was only surprised that more people didn't die that day. It still astonishes me that the Capitol police didn't just open fire and kill a couple of dozen rioters, but in retrospect I imagine that would have only resulted in an escalation of violence, so it's good they didn't do that. I don't believe people like OLB have the intelligence or wisdom to fully understand just how close we came to losing our republic that day. There were dozens of people working behind the scenes in the weeks after the election (we now know) who are largely responsible for this being a ridiculous coup "attempt" and not the beginning of the American Empire.

How successful or well planned the insurrection was is irrelevant. The fact there even was an insurrection is a threat an insurrection sparked by a lie invented and endorsed by the president of the united states and is still believed by the majority of the Republican base. 

So the excuses so far 

It wasn't against Trump

Not enough stuff was destroyed 

Not enough people died 

It wasn't well planned or well-executed

All irrelevant to whether it was an insurrection or a threat 

Because people who were actually there sure as hell thought they were a threat

This is a good point. Let's say just 5 people decided to engage in a coup by infiltrating the Capitol that day. If these people were capable enough, it's possible they could have murdered Pence and enough Democrats such that the Electoral Vote could not be counted and validated. End of Republic. I doubt people like Ted Cruz or MTG would mind.

Some would argue that the heads of the military wouldn't stand for it. Fair argument if those people were loyal to the country and not to Trump. All it would have taken is a handful of generals to back him. End of Republic.

What about the outrage on the media. Shut down.

But citizens would have rioted. US Military.

The next time we see this, it will probably be someone much smarter than Trump behind it.
