These religious texts were written by primite men, who wanted to explain the unknown in order to manipulate the masses. Why even bother?

Argument is good sport! Inheritance law ordained by Allah: "4.11: Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases ('s) after the payment of legacies and debts. Ye know not whether your parents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. These are settled portions ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Al-wise. 4.12: In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave no child; but if they leave a child, ye get a fourth; after payment of legacies and debts. In what ye leave, their share is a fourth, if ye leave no child; but if ye leave a child, they get an eighth; after payment of legacies and debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question, has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of legacies and debts; so that no loss is caused (to any one). Thus is it ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Most Forbearing. "

Sorry Atlass, this is the same bad argument I have seen from Christians and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists. When you cant get away with simply quoting the hero/writing you try to cherry pick the writing to retrofit modern science to point to your club. You're wrong on you not cherry picking stuff. You're both cherry picking and misinterpreting stuff. Not alone are you pointing to a few vague and ambiguously worded passages, you're twisting and turning them in a vain attempt to make them "look scientific". Every holy book has passages like this, and you discount all others, why does your belief in islam give the equally ignorant qu'ran a free pass? Oh and you're also wrong on the scientific method, it's not a way of proving what's right but, more importantly and much better for knowledge, disproving what's wrong.

So..uh, since we have this notion that some sort of being in the "scientific" right demonstrates that magic book is credible...does it being consistently in the "scientific" wrong demonstrate the converse...or is this little relationship a one way street, in your opinion, Atlas?

The quran seems to disagree with the knowledge we have now, the quran says the earth and the heavens were torn apart during the big bang.
First of all I don't know what "the heavens" are, are they the universe? Modern day descriptions of the big bang don't include the earth because the components that made up the earth wouldn't form to create the earth for several billion years. The planet we know as Earth didn't exist during the big bang. The earth is 4.5 billion years old the universe is around 13 billion years old. So as I said, there would be billions of years of waiting around before there's even an earth in existence after the big bang. Unless the quran is talking about the components of the earth, I find it unlikely but if it is talking about the components of the earth then this is still a confusing explanation since I don't think anyone would say the earth has been torn apart from the universe/heavens. The earth is still within the universe, so what is the earth separate from? The Earth is no more separate from the rest of the universe than any other component that makes up the universe. It isn't a unique focal point. In my opinion if you look at the earth being torn apart from the heavens it's much more in line with ancient mythology than modern day science. The belief that the earth was always here, that there's an earth realm and heaven realm and god performed the action of tearing them apart. I can see why it's tempting to look into all this shit, especially if you've been indoctrinated/mentally abused since childhood with supernatural threats of violence to believe in all this. Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason.
This is what I would find impressive. Whether in the Torah, New Testament, Quran, or Upanishads:
God says: "Boil your water before you drink it. Especially before you give it to your children. I can not explain right now but one day we will invent a tool that will show you why. There are little beasties in the water and they can make you sick! Thus sayeth the Lord!" But no! Countless children die from diarrhea and religitards want to believe "stars hung in the firmaments" or "wash your face in dirt" is evidence for iron age advanced cosmology or biology.
