I quoted a post (in it's entirety) that was edited roughly three minutes later. Would you mind posting the rule that I violated?

Quoting Others Inaccurately
When quoting another member of the forums, whether using quote tags or putting quotes between quotation marks, members may quote them in whole or in part, but may not change the quoted text by adding, modifying, or deleting words. An exception to this rule is where the member is paraphrasing, provided that the paraphrased quote does not change the meaning of the original quote, or takes the quote out of its original context. 

Adding formatting for purposes of clarification or highlighting (e.g. making certain words bold, adding reference numbers, etc.) is allowed, provided that the member indicates that the additions are their own and not in the original quote, and provided that the formatting does not change the meaning of the quoted text. 

Changing quoted text for the purpose of parody is allowed, provided that the parody is clear to members. In the case of ambiguity, staff will err on the side of preserving the author's original words rather than preserving a member's artistic license.

Not sure how any of this applies to me. I didn't change, add, modify, or delete any of Shell's post.

You did add something, though. What you added may have been a part of the pre-edited post but seeing as all users have a right to edit their posts it still counts as adding something that's not in the post.

You quoted an edited post, then also quoted the un-edited version of a post, which clearly shows that you were trying to impose a meaning that the author of the post obviously didn't intend. If you had just posted the un-edited version because you grabbed it before Shell edited it, then it would be just like all of the other times that happens on this forum, and no one would have batted an eye.

Trying to impose a meaning that an author didn't intend, using nothing but the author's their own words? I would disagree, but that hardly matters. 
I don't actually see any "imposing meaning" clause in the Quoting Inaccurately rules.

If you want to say I did something a bit sneaky or underhanded, I wouldn't argue about it. But, the Quoting Inaccurately rules don't specifically speak to what I did.

The abortion thread went so well with minimal shit slinging, and this is the thread that sparks controversy O_o

I know I've probably said this a hundred times since becoming a mod, but we don't do things like editing posts as favors to our favorite members. I'm not taking sides in the argument because I didn't bother to pay attention to what it was about and I don't really care. But the edit was due to a rule violation, not any display of favoritism.
